OK folks, We need to act....

If you want struts, and are happy to pay the £200 for now, until its all sorted out, send me a mail at tiffx19@btinternet.com , and tell me if you want to send a cheque,or pay by bank transfer, which struts you need and if you would like any money left over paid back to you by bank transfer,or Paypal, and I'll send back an Email reciept to you. . Please head the Email X1/9 struts so it doesn't go into my spam folder!!
<p>
I reckon 14 days should be enough for everyone to decide what they want to do,and get payment to me,so I can get the order off to Summit. That would make the Cutoff date the 18th June. Remember English cheques sometimes take up to 5 days to clear in a Scottish bank. remember also we need at least 100 struts to give the price quoted, but this may change slightly due to shipping/customs etc.

I would understand some of your concerns about paying the £200,but I cannot guarantee the exact price until they are picked up from the airport. If any one who has said they want them, but are unsure about this, fair enough. I WILL NOT be making any money from all this..and I will scan and send all the documents to all buyers if they want them after its all sorted out.I just want to keep these cars on the road as long as possible!!

Dave and Ewen, are you still happy to help in collecting them from the airport, and with delivery? Sorry I missed Thirlstane, but my CSC fell off.......Someone (I think it was Dave) did say at Craigtoun it looked lower than Ewens....

Iain,

Did you check the 1500 front and 1300 rear struts? we need to be sure before ordering? Or can anyone else check part numbers?

I'm still up for doing a bit of hand ball if it comes down to that. £200 a pop sounds good to me to start with. BUT, are you quite happy to stick all this dough in your account Tiff? Would you prefer the cheques to be made out to The X1/9 Owners Club?

Ewen,

I'm just getting panicky we all hum and haw and do nothing,so I suppose I'm sticking my neck out a bit..If it all goes pear shaped, then I'll be responsible. I have a couple of cheques already,so can't go back now!

Depending upon which airline and airport of arrival you want it to go into

Chicargo 1000 kilos 1.50 usd
fuel surcharge 0.05 usd per kilo
security surcharge 0.15 usd per kilo
plus a documentation fee
airline handling fee
use above iformation as a ball park figure

If shipper is delivering to port another cost to be considered

*IMPORTANT*

Despite numerous emails to KYB USA and KYB Europe,no-one will confirm avaliability of 1300 rear struts, although I believe I can get strut inserts. Can someone with a 1300 check that you can fit inserts in them? Would 1300 owners be happy with inserts on the rear? If not I will refund anyone who has already sent payment once I find out 100% whats happening. I will look myself when I see Gary's 1300 in the next few days, but if replacement shocks have been fitted in the past, these may not be able to take inserts...

Ok, more digging, came up with these, and some info.

Front struts

Rear struts

1300 and 1500 front struts are identical. 1300's had smaller CV joints so mounting flange is welded on higher up,hence the lower height on 1300's. 1500 rear struts will fit on 1300's but will raise the rear with standard sprigs.X1/9 springs can be cut safely, with no MOT hassles if done carefully. You may need the 1500 bump stop on the 1300strut. 1300 struts on a 1500 will foul the CV joint. KYB do not make 1300 rear struts.

So, to summarise..

1300+1500 Front shocks-no problem. 1500 rear shocks-no problem

1500 rear shock will fit a 1300, but will raise the ride height about an inch with standard springs.1300 original rear shocks SHOULD be able to take inserts.

KYB is the only company making replacements struts, you can get aftermarket race spec stuff, but one Australian guy paid $3000 for his...

If anyone wants to pull out, please tell me soon!!

Sorry about all this folks, but getting information about all this is near impossible. I need to sleep now.... 3:12 am...

More updates..

Had this reply from KYB Europe.. Summit Racing seem happy to accept our order,so they must be able to source enough parts..But the reply shown below let you see whats happening to parts supply. They won't make any more inserts without orders and payment,so expect thse parts to be taken off thir production list very soon.

>>>>KYB USA do not have enough stock, we are investigating if it’s still possible to order them from our factory (4 month lead time). Regarding the 663013 + 363017, we have 3 of each in stock at our UK branch. These are very slow moving parts for us and again we would need to order any more from the factory with a 4 month lead time.

Should we be able to source the parts, we would need to enter into an agreement as we would not be prepared to accept liability on large quantities of otherwise dead stock. We would most likely put your business through one of our distributors. However, we can discuss this once we find out about the supply.

Regards,

Sue <<<

So I reckon its still best to press on with Summit.Hopefully when our order goes in,they will se X1/9 struts as fast moving items and make more!
