Hi Tiff
Your doing a great job, not easy organising a group buy like this.
If your looking at post, the post office is doing some good rates at the moment, but we use at work night freight they are pretty cheap, the other option is TNT who are by far the best but are a little bit high on cost, Im sure if they where contacted a good price could be arranged.
you may be able to use the carrier office as a shipping point to and then have them distribute them out, only bad point with this is the import tax, liked the Irealnd idea, that would save us all a little more money.
If i can help with anything let me know.

BIG THANKS TIFF

Mark

IainB ...do you need 1300 or 1500 rear struts?

Just a thought,If it all works out,I could possibly fill the Espace and bring a load down to the national meet?

Tiff, please put me down for a full set (2 1500 fronts and 2 1300 rears).

If I were to put the 1300 rears onto a 1500 what would they do? To my understanding they just lower it slightly? Just thinking ahead as I may be transplanting my old 1500 engine, box, hubs, shafts, etc into the 1300...

Thanks,
Iain

Right.
Has some feedback from a few places.Summit racing do not give discounts at all. They have been the cheapest so far,and are working out a few shipping quotes for me.There is a charge for Foreign handling, but at $23.95 per order its not gonna impact the price too much,as it looks like all the struts will be classed as 1 (huge) order!

I have been in touch with KYB Europe again, and now we are talking numbers they seem a LOT more interested.I'll await their reply to see if they can help us in any way.

I have also been in touch with Jamex Europe, and they WILL reproduce lowered springs for us,but have a minimum order or 50 sets.Again waiting on prices. These will be specially made for us,so cash will have to be paid up front before they will produce them.

They way its going,I think we will need to cut off at 100 units for the struts,as its turning into a logistical nightmare!

ALSO ....IMPORTANT....
After talking to a few suspension people,it seems that 1300 rear struts are actually 1500 front struts...Can anyone confirm? Every catalogue I have read lists the part no's as being the same....

don't worry about logistics Tiff, we can all just bring our cars up so you can fit the struts :D :D :P

Thanks for organising this for everyone, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I have both front and rear 1500 and 1300 struts in the garage, do you want me to compare 1300 rear to 1500 front?

Thanks again,
Iain

That would be great Iain,if they are Fiat parts, they should have a part no. Does anyone have an old microfiche they could check up on?

I could just imagine the neighbours,50 X1/9's lined up around the block, and the road running with WD-40 and sweat... :D

Next update.

I have just recieved a reply from Summit Racing.
At the beginning I asked for a quote for 20 units- I had no idea there was so much demand!!

Anyway, they have quoted:

20 struts: $1,199,00
Handling charge $0,023.95
Shipping (Cheapest) $0374,00

Total $1596.95 Which is,at todays rates, £810.03,or £40.50 per strut, delivered to me.So comes in at £162 per set of 4,before import tax,so should be comfortably under £200.

I have asked them to quote for 100,but even if the shipping's multiplied by 5,price will be the same per unit.Works out at over EIGHT GRAND ($)though!!!

Obviously they dont have 100 X1/9 struts on the shelf,so would be a manufacturer order, they reckon 14-21 days to get them. They accept credit cars or bank wire transfer.I think credit card would be safer as extra insurance? Someone else may know better than me about all this.

I'll keep ya posted!
