looks like every one and their dog has an X1/9 forsale on e-bay this week
including a 1300

Because it was a free Ebay car listing day at the weekend so people lured by saving £6 or whatever it is to list a car stuck it up at the weekend! Howver for a car like an X1/9 appealing to such a small market its a glaring example of spending a pound to save a penny as your car is much more likely to go for a lower final bid due to there being so many X1/9's to choose from at one moment on Ebay!

Right thats it. I HAVE to get my jealous head on. I begged and scraped to try and get this car but the good lady prevailed. Oh how I want a fast exxy and now I have the money, I'm not allowed.

Graham you lucky git! I was interested in buying this and actually went to view it and was seriously tempted by it!

Be under no illusions though - it won't be comfortable to drive on the road on a day to day basis as it is very, VERY loud! and the power band is rather narrow (4.5K rpm~ 7K) so you have to thrash the bollocks off it to wring any sort of performance from it. It is really more suited to trackdays etc - the interior needs ripping out and a cage, bucket seats etc. installed to get the most out of it. Engine build looks superb and sounds fantastic however there seems to be a bit of a misfire as the revs dont pick up cleanly from idle.

Also I would take the 160BHP at the wheels claim with a pinch of salt as that would mean its knocking out over 180BHP at the flywheel and I've not heard of any X1/9's with that power figure still on a 1500 N/A engine! The seller did not have any paperwork whatsoever to substantiate the engine build nor any dyno graphs.... My own twin carb X1/9 is "only" 130BHP at the flywheel translating to just over 100 at the wheels yet it doesnt feel much slower than this car in question.

certainly sounds like a bargain if the engine is as good as it makes out .. 160 does seem rather a lot though, like Jim, I think mine is about 130, but I have a fairly mild cam. I'll be intersted to see the full spec .. maybe see it sometime!

Haha John I'm not as bad as Gomer and Ewen et al - had I bought it I would have definitely sold both my 1500's to make room for it!

Definitely was a bargain, given the extent of the mods I know it 'owed' the seller far more, so quite a surprise he let it go for so little... heck I wouldn't let my own car go for less than 3K!
