Just thought id add the views of one of the "passive majority". I'll state from the start that i didnt take part in the chairman's vote cos as a new member, not knowing either candidate , I may as well toss a coin for preference.

I joined this club with the aim of adding to the enjoyment of the experience of owning & driving 2 of these cars. However, in following the forum posts of the last few months it seems Ive stumbled upon a gang of egotistical, attention seeking juveniles who just want to fight.

So Im out!

I too am new to the club and I didn't vote either for the same reason. However, having seen this a 'few' times before at other clubs I have no doubt it will sort itself out eventually and a club will materialise from the wreckage! Facebook is fine but a club is more than a bit of social media and there will remain a sizeable number of old car owners (the cars are old not necessarily the owners!) who want something more tangible.

Islandsteve - agree with you there, I've also seen this too elsewhere, and I'm sure this mess will resolve itself one way or another, so I'm sticking it out here for the time being.
Facebook is just a fad, one day sooner or later something else better will come out and Facebook will quickly be forgotten and left at the wayside. Just like IRC, ICQ, MSN chat, Myspace but to name a few. I haven't bothered to use the facebook group much as the 'threads' there are impossible to follow, trying just to read unread posts is a pain along with all the pop ups and advertisements. Facebook is fine for keeping in touch with people or for laughing at photos of people getting drunk or reading someones latest rant in their status update, but for serious technical discussion I much prefer a proper forum layout like the one here. The threads are much more logical and easier to follow, it runs faster on any computer/mobile device, the search function is superior and as time goes on a very valuable resource of information is built up - many a time I've used the search function to bring up an old discussion when I've had problems with my car.

Amen to the value of the forum! I've been suffering from some starter motor gremlins of late :- the dreaded click and nothing, the nothing whatsoever and the "how did I drain the battery that fast?". Found a replacement on FleaBay and then with a quick search on here had all I needed to know to do the job - not quite in 20 mins but quickly and effectively (Thanks Tiff) - Testing with roof off then occupied the balance of another glorious and sunny December afternoon! I love driving my X and rely on the forum to help keep me enjoying it. So please, sort things out!

I did NOT say "fixed".... I said "won"

Where did that come from?

I have No idea where Chris PR is coming from(WHERE ARE YOU???) , (& for the good of the Club, I don't know where you are coming from either Les?)

All I can see is that the two of you are tearing the Club apart.. Great Chairmanship... Well Done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But PLEASE ... if you mean Steve Golab .. get off his case!

I have heard many accusations against Steve & Neil ...

What Absolute Rubbish.. Those who accuse clearly don't know these guys & their Absolute integrity

PLEASE CAN WE MOVE FORWARD BEFORE WE SELF DESTRUCT??

Hi Les,

I really am sympathetic..but you do have to provide evidence of "manipulated" vote, otherwise you could be cited for libel with your accusations... and I have to say..

Sorry, but you are Way out of order with your allegations of rigging..

PLEASE, for the good of the Club.. Can we move forward??

You are a good guy, Mark too ..

Pull together ... or kiss the Club Goodbye??? x
