Some end-of-sill work. I'm just thinking how strange these pics might look to you all- I'm used to seeing the car upside down now, but you won't be... lol. This is the front end of the n/s outer door sill. You can just see the repaired/primed inner sill behind the repair.

Aww, that's lovely stuff nice to see you cracking on with it Andrew. That's some good looking welding going on there...if I was closer to you I'd give you a helping hand.

Thanks Dave B)
The welding skills are improving all the time... to the point that I wanted to redo some of the first welds I made a few weeks ago! Lol.
It's just as well too, as you'll agree when you see what I had to do to the front suspension turrets
Pics to follow...

Beginning to repair the rusty sill. All rust damage was cut out and repair patches plug welded on a 10mm overlap usually, sometimes butt welded.

Some shots of the n/s rear arch replacement. Pics show the rust damage and then the cutting out, which was seriously frightening- I've never done this before... I was SO careful. Took me ages!! I cut it in stages, first just the lip. then the whole arch, cutting to match the shape of the repair panel. I had to weld some patches into the inner arch too, unfortunately I never took any pics of that but I was very pleased with the outcome.
Using a repro repair panel from Eurosport. The arch is very well made B)
The welding was done very slowly, allowing time for the panel to cool down. It was effectively kinda seam welded in the end, by joining the gaps between the tack welds one at a time because if you leave ANY gaps at all, however tiny, it will bubble at some point in the future, no matter how well you seal it up and fill over it.

Next job was to paint the inner sill repairs and to cut the lower wing into straight edges to mate up with the repair panel, again from Eurosport.

Lining up the repair panel. I 'joggled' the edge to allow a lap welded joint, the repair panel's edges sitting behind the cut edges of the lower wing.

And the finished repair. Seam welded, no gaps, no pin holes (you check in the dark by putting a torch behind the repair).

Hi Andrew,

I thought mine was bad, those pictures look bad. I like what you've done with the wheel arches I only wish I did that to mine I reconstructed my rear N/S and chopped up an old front wing and used the arch to repair the rear O/S arch. Never mind but I'm happy with the outcome.

Can I ask the section you've repaired just in front of the rear wheel arch under the air intake, did you put a drainage hole just under the lip, your pictures don't show this. These two pictures are probably not the best to show what I mean, but the first one shows a little slot cut out this is where the hole is lined up with the out panel to act as a drainage hole. The second picture is my attempt of making a panel with the drainage hole cut in you cant see it but it lines up with the slot in inner section.
