They had them on display at the practical classics restoration show a few weeks ago and certainly give you good access for welding underneath.

I'm dubious as to how good it can be but they've sold loads and had glowing feedback for it so...
I'll post pics of it as soon as I have the car safely mounted on it. If that happens!

Very scary seeing it like this. Took a couple of afternoons to get it mounted correctly. As it is an ultra budget model it has no lifting facility- you have to use jacks/engine hoist to get it to the right height before bolting it to the rotisserie. But I'm not complaining- for £255 delivered to my door, complete with my custom designed mounts specifically for the X1/9... could be the best purchase I've ever made! I'll post a link to it when they list again on ebay.
It will make welding the sills and floor a pleasure. Which is just as well as there is a lot to do!
Ironically, now that it's mounted I'm leaving it alone while I rebuild the engine...

It looks like there is a vertical division panel behind the radiator on the earlier cars? What's that for? Not on my 1500...

I wondered that myself. It's over ten years since I briefly owned a 1500 and I never saw behind the radiator so I didn't realise it's only on the early cars. I did wonder what it's for though...

The rotisserie looks good. I'd be interested in the link when you see it again.
Don't leave the car upside down for too long, it'll get a headache!!

Although I have a small garage having the rotisserie gave me a lot of room once put on its side. you can see the jig being set up!!!

They don't make grey either so this is half black and half white mixed. Looks great! Well, as great as grey could look, I suppose. The last engine I rebuilt was a Citroen CX 2.4 motor. Factory colour for CX blocks was bright orange! Much more fun... lol.

You're welcome mate. We're all here for the same reasons- to preserve our little Baby Ferraris... I look at other peoples' posts for inspiration all the time! Nothing spurs you on like a pic of a shiny car!
Cylinder head stripdown and inspection is this coming Monday
I enjoy the restoration process but my work has suddenly got quite busy and I fear the car might not be completed this year... At the start of this whole thread I said I planned to drive over the Alps to Italy in this X1.9 later this year but it's looking unlikely now... the car is waaay rougher than I thought and I don't have enough time to finish it before the summer. And I refuse to cut corners; I like to take my time and do it right. So my trip may have to wait another year... unless I buy another X1.9 to use in the meantime... hmmm, now there's a thought...!
Then again, it's my 50th next year so I should maybe do it then instead! That would be the sensible thing to do... lol.
I'm not looking on ebay at all... honest...
