I’m 20, stay in Glasgow and when I'm not tinkering in the garage I study mechanical engineering at the university: yes, I'm a jobless student layabout.
My better half is far more stylish than me; she is two years younger but obviously had a hard life. She demands my time most weekends, spends all my money and typically needs lots of attention, especially around the wheelarches.

Apart from the usual welding and bodywork, I have been busy with a few modifications:
4x Kawasaki ZX6R carbs with custom manifold, linkage & ZX6R fuel pump.
'Megajolt' distributerless ignition, rev limit & shift lights. 3D mappable with laptop.
Pagid fast road brake pads with Goodridge SS flexi hoses.
1300 engine cover & side grilles.
Debumpered front and rear with 1300 bumpers, grille and lights waiting to be mounted... anyone got a 1300 spoiler they need rid of?!
I've also got some Compomotive TS split rims but haven’t quite decided if they would spoil the look, I know some exxy owners are quite sensitive about wheel size!
Here's a few pics:
Before
That’s about it for now, it’s depressing when I realise the un modified X went into my garage 14 months ago for a 'winter service'
I hope to make it to the club outing in Edinburgh next month to meet some fellow X heads, the car wont be on the road so let me know if you have an empty passenger seat..
Kind Regards,
Iain

P.S Was it Bogg bros who did your manifold? I was out in an Astra redtop a few days ago with ZX9R carbs and it was awesome...was a Bogg manifold, and was top quality.

The modifications are just a distraction from horrid bodywork but I've run out of £££ now so its time to break out the filler and get sanding...
Let me know if you find a decent spray shop, I will be on the hunt soon too
The VS looks very smart, are they lancia wheels?

Iain

Mine is a light blue 1500 1980 (but with bumpers). I did own a mica blue SE for about eight years and was a daily driver, before it got too bad with rust to get through an MoT. I very infrequently get over to the west-end so unlikley to have been me, but if it was very rusty looking it might have been me in my old one. I stay in the southside suburbs, and now that I commute in by train, my car stays warm and dry in a garage waiting for weekend jaunts. Having said that I did bring it in today.
The Uno Turbed one is probably Picollo's who was in the process of selling it last summer.
Tiff said that there is a guy at a tyre place in the east end who has a light blue one like mine - not sure if it has bumpers or not.

And yest they are Lancia wheels, off a Beta Coupe, with 185/55/14's.. I was never a fan of bigger wheels, but haven't had it out on the road yet with them,so I'll see how it goes!

I have also met Paul Santoni briefly when I saw his blue GF, not sure if this is the same one I have seen in the west end.
Apparently the owner of the Italian restaurant on Gt Western Road owns an X1/9, this is also where I have seen the mica red X a few times... I also remember eating there a long time ago and seeing an X poster on the wall! I didnt know what it was at the time...
Hopefully I'l meet you all soon so I can put cars to faces. Driving the X around in Glasgow last year was an amusing experience; I had kids telling me I had a 'cute car', a guy complimenting me on my 'TR7' and some hot girl asking me if I had built it myself?! The joys of X ownership..

Iain

Look forward to seeing you next month. I might have a spare seat but I will let you know nearer the time. I might be going up in convoy with some of the others so watch this space.
