Ebay guide was created by Tiff
I've written a short X1/9 buying guide on ebay, hopefully this will get noticed and promote the cars and the club! There seems to be quite a few bought and sold on there and many won't be members,or even know about us! Would it be possible to get a database of where members are in the country, and possibly help out potential owner if possible? I know a few people who have travelled far for their cars, and it would be reassuring to know someone has given it the "once over" to avoid any surprises!

Great idea Tiff! Well writtten and easy to understand. Lets hope that we do get more members from it to keep the club going.
I don't think I would know as much about the car without the club and this excellant forum in such a short space of time.

Cheers

I wrote the guide for people who are new to the X1/9,for some pointers, not about anyone's individual car. There are some really bad ones out there, and if people buy one of these ,it'll put them off for life!Bodykits and non standard cars are all down to personal taste, and it will always be a talking point between people who prefer standard and modified cars.I've never had to replace a wheel bearing on a standard car yet either, but going on exerience with any car with massivley offset wheels, wheel bearings do take a pounding...I've never had problems with overheating, but thats not to say that some people do! As for the Turbo conversion, never done one personally, but as its based on the same block,it's gotta be far easier than a twin cam,or Alfa conversion.

I think your Dallara's the dogs whatsits, but I'm really more of a classic, rather than modified kinda guy,so a pristine original 1300 is more my kinda thing but If I had the cash,I'd have one of each!

I'll pop a pic of your car in the guide so folks can see what a good modified example looks like!!

Good point Frosty; had a look when Tiff first mentioned it and didn't hit the yes button so I just have 'cos it's true.

Is this also something that should be entered into the 'who can view the Forum' post discussion as it is something people would probably consider viewing the website or joining the club for. Let's face it most of the available buying guides are getting dated (the odd one may pop up in a Classic car magazine) and don't reflect the proliferation of Ebay usage.

Actually Nige - I was there first with the word "proliferation" if you look at my posting I made after Bromley in the Events Board!! :P

Scary, I might have subconciously picked that word up from reading Raymanboy's adverts too.....

Sorry Jim, I didn't knowingly plagiarise you (actually plagiarism is probably another word of the week candidate!); you're obviously having the Ramanboy effect on me (scary).
