Don't get me wrong chaps - I'd love a new X. Fiat really missed the boat though and its an ironic coincidence the MX5 was launched in '89 just as the last X1/9's were leaving the showrooms. I think once Fiat shunned the Abarth X1/9 for the 131 as its Rally entrant they began to lose interest in its development and hence why total production moved to Grugliasco and the Fiat badges went. They were never bothered about the X from then on in. The Barchetta was the last nod that they had missed the boat (I'd still love one of them!) I also have a Coupe 20VT LE on my drive. There were £27k new in the late 90's. As per Graham in some peoples eyes thats too much for 'just a Fiat.' Surely a Panda/500-based Turbo'ed Targa around £15k would be the way to go now!
