I'd like to thank all the people that assisted me in trying to fix the X1/9 at Brooklands yesterday.

Sorry I can't remember all your names, Oliver, Nick, Ed, Don? to name a few, I know there was more please say hello if you were one of them.

Needless to say the AA couldn't fix it either.

Good news is I found my spare carb repair kit this morning, but I suspect it's the fuel pump.

It was good to meet you all, and see your cars.

Some of you were interested in the drawings for my DCNF linkage please post and I will send you the details.

Best Regards,

Ian

I really wanted to go to Brooklands but working every Saturday means the only way of getting away is to book a holiday and all mine are taken up. Do you have any pictures?

I forgot to take my camera and didn't really bother using my phone camera as there's no flash on it.

There must have been about 10 X1/9's I spotted during the day, I hope that some of the others got some good pictures.

Hi Rob, It was a good day despite the uninspiring weather. I have pictures of the X19s there and am doing a short blurb to go with them - how best to send stuff to you for the mag? pics are quite big?

A good day at Brooklands despite indifferent weather. 9 different Xys in the club area over the course of the day plus 2 others seen elsewhere

Andrew, could you let me have a few words too so I can put an article on the front page of the website. Just a couple of informal paragraphs would be great - I don't need as much as would go in the mag. Also, could send me a few more pics for the website? If you resize them to 600 or 800 wide, that should reduce the file size and make them easier to mail (if you could get them to about max 150K each in size, that's about right for the website). If you could mail them to admin@x1-9ownersclub.org.uk, that would be great. Ta.

If anyone else has any photos, could they mail them to me too.

Hi Ian,

Glad you got your car back home ok in the end, even if it was via the big yellow taxi! Good to meet you too and sorry us Monte owners couldn't get you on your way (Eric, Ed and Darren). Would be very interested in the DCNF linkage drawings too!

Not wishing to hi-jack the thread - especially as a newbie here - but thanks to Andrew for letting me have a sittie, and confirming there's more room in an X1/9 than an X20!! Very enjoyable day overall - look forward to seeing you again at another event in the not too distant.

Cheers

Darren

Darren,

Sorry I got your names wrong, I have a terrible memory, as demonstrated.

PM me your email address and I'll send the files over.

Hi Andrew, a write up would be greatly appreciated thanks! With regards to the pics, they don't have to be massive resolution. Either email them over or ideally put them on photobucket so I can re-size them my end.

Darren were you at the Nec? I spoke to a few of the monte chaps and I'm sure there was a Darren. Our stand was opposite!

Yeah there is always a good group of us up there. Hat off to Graham Allen who does all the NEC stand organising etc. When I spoke to some of the Monte boys (in Mafia suits, ha) in November just gone, they mentioned that they do a event in September at Curborough Sprint Track! Seeing as our National do is coming up shortly in May (it usually is in September) it would be nice to still have an event before the end of the summer i.e do something combined - X19s vs Montes! What do you think?

Chaps an X1/9 - X1/20 event is a brilliant idea!!! I'd be up for that for sure.....
Curborough is not too far from me - I was there not too long with the Fiat Coupe Forum but I'll go further to see Montes' - still on my 'to do' list :)

Hi Rob and Neil,

Apologies for the delay responding - just been having a word with my fellow committee members at the Consortium about this. We think it's a brilliant idea and definitely worth pursuing. Far as we know, there is a limit of 10 cars using the full circuit and we would obviously have to offer those places to Consortium members first.

This year, we are combining the event with our Technical forum on the Saturday at a local, probably pub or hotel venue. The date will be the 7th September for the track day and the 8th for the tech forum. I'll let you know as soon as we have costs confirmed and an idea of how many places we'll have available for you.

It would be great in any event to get a few cars up there anyway - far as I know any number can pitch up to spectate and join in the fun!

What do you think?

Cheers

Darren
