Well without breaking the data protection act, how many members do we have in the uk that are actively driving x1/9's and participating in the club?

Apart from three that I know of in Suffolk and Essex we are about as rare as hens teeth...

For me personally I can't make local club meets in the evening due to kid commitments, but if I knew who else was in the area we could maybe arrange some runs etc....

1983 1500 (currently restoring it)
1989 1500 GF - on the road
2003 Mazda RX8 - modern version of the X1/9

Aspires to a Lancia MonteCarlo (code number by Fiat and Lancia X1/8 then X1/20)

hi terry, how many x1/9s on the road i don't think the club could find out without a survey but i would guess not that many, the club has under 400 members some from overseas,i don't hold any evening meetings in my region, its always saturday's or sunday's...after a hard days work not many want a car meet :) have you asked your regional officer ?

A very quick, rough and ready look at the different regions (UK only) shows :

EAN 21
EEM 20
ENE 38
HCN 26
IRE 11
LSE 26
SCO 36
SSW 22
TVS 51
WLS 22
WNW 34
WWM21

That's just members - no mention of activity levels, no of working cars, project cars etc...

So is that 308 fully paid up members = £9240 in membership fees alone?

Not bad for a wee car club, what you doing with it all?

I am a new member but I must say the £9k sounds like a lot of money to make a mag(or am I missing something ).
I was a a founder member of the Scottish Kit Car Club and it had the same problems as the membership got bigger.
I also would like to thank some of the members I have had the privilege to speak to and deal with.
Does the club publish the accounts as that might put some peoples gas at a peep.
Another point was the disappointing turn out at Craigtoun Park from the club four cars from the members in Scotland.

This ends my rant

Looking forward not back

I have had that many Fiats they gave me a job selling them

hi michael welcome to the club, the magazine is not the only expense the club has but it is a large expense, there is the cost of the birmingham exhibition each year, the online forum is another cost, the trophies etc for our national meet, promotion of our club too , i believe the accounts are printed in the clubs magazine every year at least it use to be,i am sure if you ask then maybe the accounts can be put online ...cheers pete

If we were to all contribute to that CLUB magazine so that deadlines were met we would be stuck to meet postal /printing costs and a Editor who we would never see

Check this website to see how many are left on the road, and how the numbers are declining.

558 bloody hell thats sobering!
So if the club has a membership of 370 less the old guard and abroad that probably leaves about 300 plus thats not a bad cover.

Charlie mag cost are very competitive for a 40 page full colour mag in short runs printed and bagged for post, your welcome to try and get a better rate though.

i do believe mark had reduced the cost of the magazine while improving its quality,370 out of 558 is a high ratio...but 558 is a sad figure too :(

I just added them up and I make it 424 licensed (taxed) vehicles and 787 SORN (off the road). Not exactly the same as you Dave, but close (I was using the 2010 data) !

I'm a bit bewildered by the fact that there are about 9 cars registered 1992 and later (there's one in 2007 !). They must be errors, surely ?

I'm getting the data from here (X1/9) and here (X1/9 VS) .
