Valuations For Agreed Value Insurance

Hi

I recently re-insured my yap and requested an agreed value for the insurance. So I took my photos as requested with an outline of the work undertaken.

Today I received a letter from the Classic Car Department of Adrian Flux advising me that due to the lack of availability of equivelent vehicles being offered for sale I need to get the car valued by a member of the Institute Of Automotive Engineers and Assessors.

Does anyone know of such an individual? suitably qualified ??

That's because there's no X1/9 restored to the quality of your car. Some insurance companys accept club endorsment.

Hi Grimmy

Its amazing what a shiny paint job can do ! !

I appreciate your comments. They dont mention anything regarding a club endorsment. Has anyone from the club performed valuations?

Yes.

The requirement for a 'valuation' from a club official used to be quite a common request in the 90s but seems to have faded in recent years.

Traditionally it was done by the Technical Advisors and the Regional Organisers who felt comfortable doing them.

I know that Rob WLS is doing one for Kev Williams' insurance claim at the moment.

Adrian Flux don't trust the impartiality of club officials by the sound of it, so you'll have to pay for a 'pro' to do one.
I'd suggest contacting the Institute themselves and asking if they can point you in the direction of one of their members with the best experience of the Classic car scene.
I don't think you'd want someone with experience of just accident assessor work...

Hi there,

I too am with adrian flux and was required to send in pictures etc for a guaranteed sum. I told them what I wanted for it and they agreed just amended the policy figure to suit.

Hi Tony

In my case Adrian flux state that they cannot make a decison based on the information provided and refer me to assessors.

To be honest ive not had time to persue this any further at the moment but will start to make some enquires in the week ahead.

Good to hear that you got your valuation through.

Yeah good luck with that Les, as I said before 6 pics on CD Rom and they were happy. Unless you are insuring for a price there not comfortable with?
Can not think why they would treat you any diffrent. the person you spoke to might of been having a bad day LOL.

Cheers,

Tony.

We needed front, back, both sides, engine bay and interior pics for our agreed value. I also sent a photocopy of all the MOTs to prove the mileage as our valuation is at the top end of what they usually allow for a exxy. The valuation for this year came back at £500 more than last years so I can't complain.

First post WOOHOO.

Hi everyone, new to the world of X1/9s

Hi Les

I also asked for a agreed valuation from Adrian flux on my one. The said they couldn't give me the value I was asking for but offered me a value £300 less. They also said that if I wanted more I would need to get a independent vaulation done. So I will deal with that in the spring when the car is back on the road.

The council has started gritting up here so not using the car again this winter. Time for the overhaul.

Hi Les

Sorry yes its me LOL

As you know I have only owned the car for about 6 weeks and in that time I have had much fun thrashing it about.

Now that its parked up for the winter what I need to do is:

Gearbox over haul, 3rd gear syncro is worn

Brake overhaul, for peace of mind (stopping is conducive to a longer life span) if anyone has MK1 uno turbo front caliper carriers going spare please let me know.

Suspension overhaul. Not much wrong with the suspension but since I will have most off with the gear box job seems silly not to do it at the time, new bolts, pollybush etc

Underside, strip back to metal, check for tin worm repair as required and re underseal.

Full respray, in black of course

Replacement dash as mine has been butchered for a radio.

Finaly re-upholster and other trim bits as required.

as you can see not much

plus all the unexpected nightmares that I discover along the way :D

Dont you just love the long winter nights in a cold garage

I plan that the car should remain usable, mostly throughout the resto. Not much fun having a dead car when the sunshines even if its not finished.

as always any advice, comments, physical help (if anyone is in Aberdeenshire) and free parts  always appreciated

Cheers

Guy

Guy

You certainly are in the right place, as a new member to the club so once again a BIG WELCOME TO YOU.

Guy their is a wealth of x1/9 nuts whom are awaiting to offer any amount of help and support via this forum. For me im pleased that your Lido is in good hands and has a future.

A good 1300 dash has just sold on ebay last couple of days for quite a low price did you buy it? As you know ive been hard selling my parts and am drawing breath at the moment with running to the Post office on a regular basis. I know that you can buy the gears for your box in the US from Midwest x1/9 and Mark whom is a regular contributor on this forum has had his 1500 box rebuilt. Im sure Mark can advise you.

Speak Soon
