Has anyone ever had the hairs on their neck stand up when a Daewoo is started up next to you? Thought not. but the doors clunk shut, the lights work well, the wipers wipe, the window's go up and down with gusto...-Remind me why you all drive 20 years old impractical, cramped, noisy, leaky unreliable 20 year old tinworm infested Fiats?
P.S Mine's sitting outside with a flat battery and one eye up...... I still peek through the blinds every now and then and smile
Yeh, maybe a bit 'sad' but true, the Xy has an endearing 'personality' and even though mine has been sat in the garage unused for two years (except for the occasional blast around the back lanes next to my place - where we never see the gendarmes), I don't peek through the blinds but I do get the urge to go out to the garage - just to have a look! Usually, after
ten minutes or so Elisa comes to ask 'what I am up to? - 'nothing' is the obvious reply, but she doesn't understand that the day I no longer have the urge 'just to have a look' is the day it will put up for sale because the magic has gone!

Have you tried parking the car and not looked back at it after you have walked away from the X1/9 strange feeling I know

Ever thought about getting the car" powder coated"
or this a thing of the past ?
I assume this would be a full strip down and rebuild a la "Mark Evans" "is born" type rebuild? Would be a fantastic project one day but mines years off actually needing it. Very little rust - working hard to keep it that way by sorting out problems asap and trying to keep her away from wet salty roads

..... until they hit 60,000 miles. Then they self destruct. My el-cheapo Nubira bought as a budget car so that the Exxy didn't have to suffer the damp cost me £300 every MOT and never passed first time. Driving home from work one day I could smell coolant. Inch and a half flood in the drivers footwell :!: Saved a few quid buying it but the constant repairs negated any savings.
BTW...Bloke I work with has a CRX and the roof is a great piece of showcase engineering. Really clever.

I only do that if I see someone trying to parallel park in front of it - lost count of how many front number plates i've had to replace - the best one was when I saw someone back into the car - crack - 'oh - I couldn't see your car it's too low' :!: Ah - so you thought you'd just back up and wait for the crunch then?
Some people

I've fitted an electric remote boot release (button in centre console) saves the faff trying to relocate the latches to the drivers door and means you can 'pop' the boot for the missus to load up the shopping without even opening the door. Just in case the X1/9 electric gremlins call you still have the standard latches to fall back on (or get the missus to open to boot for the shopping as she gets out!).
Still trying to find a way to remotely operate the front boot catch but at least I can lean over for that (gas strut fitted so also don't need to go round the passenger side to hold it up).
