I would do......nothing at all, Toyota tried to update and modernise the X1/9,and gave us the MR2...I would like the windows to go up without a helping hand, but thats all part of its character.I used mine to work today, and I was dry, warm, wipers were doing a grand job,Chris Evans on Radio 2 and a bit of sideways on the roundabouts..all in torrential rain.Love 'em they way they are!!

Was going to say "nothing - can't improve on perfection".

But then I read the previous reply and I agree - RUSTPROOFING.

The GTA is off the road at the moment and I have a perfectly good X1/9 sitting in the garage. But I'm getting lifts or using the train to go to work cos I don't want the Exxy getting wet!

I'd fit a swivel seat for roundabouts and country lanes
Paint it dayglo yellow so people can see it coming
Fit a louder horn so they move out the way
And convert it to run on vodka cos that will soon be cheaper than petrol

Rust proofing would be nice but that adds weight and is therefore BAD

Compared to the amount of weight I put on over xmas, a bit of rustproofing wouldn't make much difference :!:

HID Headlights are these the circular round side lights you get on a BMW
cos that takes a long time to do on our cars but has been done
Central locking there is/was a kit available for our little cars
Air con ....was standard in the US
Windscreen wipers MMmm fitting the singular uno wiper does work well but can not remember how much of the screen gets done Had mine refurbished the end of last year so mine are back to normal with the larger wiper blades
Air horns now theres a thought.... wot a the regulations on this
Tiff
If only I could use mine every day would not bother doing up my shoe laces

Ever thought about getting the car" powder coated"
or this a thing of the past ?

Well modern cars are galvanised.... wonder if a stripped shell can be dipped? or panels for that matter...
Anyway, as well as lights that light, maybe we can add
Alternators that can..
Doors that close with a modern clunk as all the integral parts were one.
Non manually assisted electric windows.. (snap Tiff)
Wipers that do, without the aid of rainx.
Non cranking hot starting..
Lleft knee room...
Non rusting negative cable point on the body...
and a waterproof fuse box....

You would never guess what my gremlins have been.....

Bah... Which would you prefer on a freezing cold winters night....a roaring open log fire,or a 2 bar electric fire? One's an appliance, the others an experience. One must be tended, cleaned, fed and watched over, the other is a Toyota...

Has anyone ever had the hairs on their neck stand up when a Daewoo is started up next to you? Thought not. but the doors clunk shut, the lights work well, the wipers wipe, the window's go up and down with gusto...-Remind me why you all drive 20 years old impractical, cramped, noisy, leaky unreliable 20 year old tinworm infested Fiats?

P.S Mine's sitting outside with a flat battery and one eye up...... I still peek through the blinds every now and then and smile :?

Frosty,

The HIDs aren't all that great. Have got them on the Scooby. One dirty lorry and visiblity is down to one cats eye. I'd rather have 7 inches any day
