headlight switch removal

Hi all i am sure this must be a easy task, but i have not got the knack of removing the main headlight switch without damage to the dash board, any knowledge would be most welcome regards simon

Is it the earlier "toggle" type switch or the later slider type switch?

The later slider switch is a sod to get out. I ended up trying to push it from behind so that it didn't damage the dashboard.
It took a while to get it out........
