Hi just rebuilt my engine and going to fit dizzy book says line up with number 1 but forums say 4. Dont understand this has surely number 4 piston is at bottom according to firing order or do they mean 4th from camwheel not number 4 on cap. If this is the case am i lining it up with number 2 on cap has firing order is 1342 please help im confused

4 is correct. Cyl 4 at tdc, both valves closed and cam wheel lined up to marks, set dizzy so as rotor arm is pointing to #4 on the cap.

Note if the flywheel has been removed before it is possible to fit it 180 deg of….if so welcome to the 180 club! My car is a member…in this case use the timing marks on the front crank pulley and cam belt cover to find tdc…if in doubt remove the cam box cover and watch the cam lobes for #4 to ensure the valves are closed and cyl4 is on the compression stroke.
