Black wire connection point was created by Richard Garnett
Hi hoping to get the engine started over Xmas after a rebuild just a quick check thick black wire as per photos just checking that it’s an earth wire and connects onto the engine maybe thermostat bolt

It certainly looks like an earth wire, factory crimped for something, it can't do any harm to earth it. Can you make out where it comes from. All the best on starting your car.

The standard earth is from the bellhousing to the chassis near the exhaust and is a copper braided tape type thing. If it is an earth the other end will be readily found attached to the chassis, earths are always as short as possible. Put a multi meter on it and check if its live, if so its not an earth. The location makes me wonder if its the live feed for the starter, although being a black doesn't help matters

It’s the alternator feed onto the starter motor funny it’s black but many thanks for your help
