Hello.
I live in Tasmania, Australia, and own two X1/9s, one of which was first registered in the UK.
It’s a 1978 Serie Speciale and, as far as I know, it’s been in Australia since the early- to mid-1980s.
I was wondering if anyone had good quality images of the Union Jack / Nuncio signature decal that I could reproduce for my restoration., as it’s missing on my car and I think one would be a nice touch in contrast to all the Aussie versions.
I’d photoshop the correct number in, if anyone were able to supply a copy.
Links to pics of both my cars are below.
Kind regards,
Alastair.

Hello,
Five years ago I had new signature decal made for my car. The chap who made it scanned the original then repaired the image, he made two whilst he was setting up his equipment one with a white background and one with silver like the original. I've attached a photograph, I hope this helps.

Thanks, Keith.
That is absolutely perfect! Unless you object violently, I hope to use the one you've attached as a template for my own. I won't use the same number, though. As I don't know what number was originally assigned to my car, I reckon I'll go w/ "1978".
Regards,
Alastair.

Hello, British X1/9 people.
My plan to reproduce a British - ie: Union Jack - decal on my UK-sourced 1978 Serie Speciale has created a bit of angst here in Oz, w/ some people questioning the legitimacy of me reproducing the one below w/ the number 1978 (in honour of the car's build date) instead of the one that's on it. Unfortunately, I don't know what the original number was when the car was in the UK.
Does anyone actually know if the car w/ the numbered decal 1978 still exists? (A long-shot, I realise.) Does anyone truly believe that if I were to reproduce the decal w/ 1978 on it, it would cause offence? It's not like I intend sending the car back to the UK and it's not an actual legal identifier like a VIN / chassis number.
Your thoughts, please. I don't wish to upset anyone and I don't realistically believe that this would but you never really know ...
Thanks,
Alastair of Australia.

Hello Alastair,
The company that made mine said that they would keep it on file and could edit the number if required. At the time they could only make them with a thin self adhesive aluminium backing, they might be able to do them without the aluminium now. I suspect their scanned image will be better than my photograph; they may be able to help you.

Thanks, Keith.
Someone told me that Henk from the Dutch X1/9 parts supplier has a stock of decals for all countries. However, he wants $EU25 each for them, which is a bit steep for a sticker, so I'm going to approach the people you've suggested.
Cheers,
Alastair

I doubt number '1978' still exists if it was in the UK. Just go for it!
I would love to know what percentage of the cars survive?
Nice website btw. I am very jealous of your dry climate!

I recently had a respray and had to have mine re made. They look like they were originally screen printed so to get around it we did it in vinyl layers.
