Pink Wire identification was created by Steve Williams
Can anyone enlighten me on the purpose of the pink wire which attaches to a sender on the near side of the engine, runs in a green sleeve around the back and reappears on the off side? I can't find it in the club wiring diagrams for post '85 models. I'm doing a final check around the engine bay before first start up after a long restoration and don't want to miss anything crucial to operation.

This is the supplement from the fiat technical workshop manual....unfortunately I don’t have the rest of it, long gone in moves and workshops.

Just checked mine and it appears to end up on the ignition coil.
I dont know why or what the wire does I'm afraid.
See photo.

Just remembered I have an original 128 workshop electrical manual somewhere in the barn and, if memory serves, this shows the supplementary wiring for US spec cars: seat belt warning light and, crucially, wiring for twin wire temperature sensor, carb cold start/emissions solenoid and other such nonsense. I’ve located the Strada/Ritmo one but it frustratingly doesn’t have US spec or the pink/Rosa or red/Rosso wires, being the usual fiat single green/white wire. There is, however the 1500 wiring diagram showing both single and twin connector senders, one of which green/white goes to the gauge (diagram pin number ID 61 to 12) it does Not, however show wires for twin! Knowing that certain markets had gauge AND overheat warning lights, it could be this OR a feed for cold start solenoid....being an ex auto-sparky I didn’t keep the mechanical or body manuals, which have pictures of components in situ with the wiring

Thanks. I suspected it went to the coil because of the connector type. When switching the ignition on, the thin pink wire shows 12v while the thicker mystery pink wire shows nothing. I'm guessing then that the mystery wire is a feed to the twin wire sensor; the red wire returns from this to the carb.
This then is what my coil connections look like - late model GF. Brown/white and green to the -ve and two pink (one 12v ignition, the others function not entirely understood), a red to trigger the fuel pump relay and a blue to the radio suppressor (which also gets missed off most wiring diagrams) on the +ve.
