Rock Solid Exhaust

Rock Solid Exhaust was created by steve
Got an exhaust for my mot needed 1 bit of welding and a rubber boot for steering rack.
However left the exhaust with the garage to put on and the old one is rock solid and he reckons that the studs may break on the manifold if pressured too much.
I haven't seen it yet but has anyone else had problems like this ??
Thanks Steve

Yes this is quite a common issue when an exhaust hasn't been remove for a while or ever.
Probably best to get the manifold off as well then try and part them when out of the car.
It involves taking the carb and inlet manifold off, so quite a bit of work.
You'll need some new manifold to cylinder head gaskets.
The other option is soaking the stud in WD40 or similar for a few days and then trying to loosen the exhaust.
Cheers

If you are brave, nip in there with the grinder and cut a slit in the offending nut. It will crack and come straight off.

I used a nut splitter on my previous car and it worked ok (slow and steady) although I can’t remember if there’s enough access to reach all the studs with it.

Heat the nuts up to cherry red with an oxy torch and they will come off.
