Rear valance paint

Hello,
I was talking to a paint shop I use for my Mercedes yesterday about painting its wings, and am thinking about getting them to fill a small rust hole (5p sized) and repaint the rear valance below the grill on the X1/9.

My question is about the paint. At the moment it is a crinkle finish looking matt blue ( 1988 blue mica). Is this right and as it should be, or would a very good polish bring it back to a glossy body colour?

I can't see a good rear photo in any of my books. Well there are a couple, but they're black and white which doesn't help at all!

Oh, and is a high temp resistant paint a good idea given the location next to the exhaust?

Thanks.

Richard

I can't help on the colour, but I would say from my experience that heat resistant paint wouldn't be needed
