Not had as much time to spend on her as I had hoped, managed to remove the engine, gearbox and rear suspension/swing arms, heat shield is removed as looking very tatty and the good news is the engine bay is looking very tidy and rust free! Seats and carpets out and the drivers floor pan is a big mess.

Started to rub down any suspicious looking bits, a bubble in the paintwork on the roll over bar turned out to be covering up a load of filler.

Front passenger side suspension turret also turned to be filled.

Front drivers side has a small hole but metal looks good from this side.

Under floor coolant pipes are shot, one has a repair immediately as it exits the box at the rear, the other crumbled away when I tried to remove the hose, full of brown sludge too!
It has now dawned on me that I have took on a much bigger project than I first thought, spoke to a local restoration company who basically said drop off the car, pay us £1000 and well be in touch when it runs out!
My next job is to learn to weld! luckily the husband of a friend of my wife is a very good welder, hopefully get some lessons.
Another week and it should be on a rotisserie and I should find out just exactly how bad it is.

I know it might seem a little daunting but when it is done you will have a rare thing. Just try to do as much as you can too save as much cash.

Hi Mark,
I feel for you and understand how you must be feeling, hang in there take your time if you are determined you will complete your project. I have been on my project now for nearly four years, it was a complete strip down two years of metal work then sent off to a paint and rust strip later returned with an epoxy coat. I have since sprayed the shell and now starting to put it all back together.
Have a look on the restoration topics you'll see mine in this area. I will upload some more pictures soon.

I've been lucky enough to be contacted by the previous owner (not the person I bought from), he has the missing drivers door card and a few other bits, he has confirmed the mileage is a genuine 53000. He bought the car in 1985, used it until 1990 when he took it off the road. Sat in his garage until 2016!
