I don't want to upset anyone but, have to

Do you know of anyone with the ability (and not just confidence) to tackle these ?

Update, the rust on the front inner doesn't go through to the outer (front wheel arch) which is odd, but I'll happily take it. Advisory only.

That looks like a common rust spot. The front strut support is spot welded to the inner arch and water gets between the two. As with most rust what you see is only half of what is there. Technically not that difficult, but quite involved as the strut support really needs to come off to effectively get at the corroded metal you see. Given that it supports the front suspension any repairs need to done by a competent welder. Mine has started to go, but is a long way from needing mending, its been covered if waxoyl and I avoid the rain so hopefully I can avoid your problem.
The other picture would be of more concern as a blocked drain hole (each end of the front a rear screens - always worth a check to make sure they are clear of crud with an airline) can cause corrosion in areas of complicated construction. It looks as if there has been a previous repair, which may be hiding all manner of horrors underneath. The only way to be sure is remove the old repair when you are feeling in a particularly optimistic mood :silly:

My rear suspension tower (driver's side) is in a bad way. Engine out job. Even then it will be a major job. Sigh.

Hi Philip, I too share your pain, unfortunately there is no easy or cheap way to make these repairs. I also had a major rust issue with my X which took approx 2 years to complete.

This picture below shows just how much I had to cut out and reconstruct there was a lot of metal shaping and a few choice words. However I'm not saying you would need the same work but the rust on these cars seem to pop up in the most unwanted places. If I lived a little closer I'm sure I could have helped.

Hi Philip, this is the only picture I have of the hole cut out on the outside I hope this will help. I have others in this area but not quite on the dot.

Unfortunately most of my pictures are of high resolution which makes it harder to upload so I'll upload individuals pictures for now. Sorry about that.
