Bumper restoration

Greetings from Australia,

I have a 1500 x1/9 from 1981, I have owned it since 1990, not long after buying it I restored it comestically. I had the aluminium bumpers polished and covered in a clear coat. Not having driven the car for almost ten years I have got the car out of the garage and notice all the clear has deteriorated and they now look poor.

I remember someone once telling me that I shouldn't have restored them like this, does anyone have a view on how best to restore these bumpers to " like new" condition.

Regards

Michael

I have used aero quality polish with very long lasting results on aluminium wheels. The stuff they polish shiny bits on aircraft... Not sure it would last for years but wheels see some tough conditions, salt etc... I found it protects the alloy for a long time! Its also used on boats so it must be good!

its called Nuvite - 'industrial use only'

btw 'mighty car mods' is ace!

Who needs 4th gear anyway...
