1300 Bumpers on a 1500?

Hi,

I am hoping to fit the classic old style bumpers onto my 1500 Gran Finale.

Is this just an easy change over?

Is anyone selling new old stock bumpers?

Also, where's the best new wheel selection for X19s...? Looking for a slightly bigger diameter, probably slightly wider wheel to fill out the arches better than the stock ones do.

Help!! :)

Many thanks!

Geoff,

To the best of my knowledge you cant get new old stock 1300 bumpers. The last ones I saw sell on ebay were for refurbishment and made £220 approx. You can buy fibre glass replicas for about £50 a set.
As for wheels, there is lots of choice, it all depends on diameter, width and offset. Some owners are using bigger spacers to get around the offset. I would love to see a lsit of what everyone is doing with regard to wheels, i.e. listing their own sizes, as fitted, giving all of the above info always remembering that the wheel shouldn't protrude beyond the wheel arch or foul on full lock.
Hopefully someone will come along with wheel data soon.

Seems a shame to rip off the 1500 bumpers off your car especially as it is a really original, low mile example that you paid a premium for, if I was in your shoes I would have bought a slightly scruffier car for a fraction of the cost, mod it to my hearts content and then get it all resprayed (which it would need doing anyway if the smoothing and finishing of the holes left behind was done properly), and yet have plenty of change in my pocket!

I mainly bought the car for it's structural and mechanical integrity and low miles, albeit at a premium.

I will soon be giving it a complete respray in metallic black, wrapping the roof panel in carbon fibre, changing wheels and bumpers, tinting glass, retrimming the interior in white leather...

Making the little eXie my own was always going to be the plan.

Fair enough, good luck with it I'm sure it will look fantastic when finished, do post some pictures of progress. As for the wheels there is not much out there in terms of new aftermarket wheels. You'd probably have to have some custom made! Dont bother looking at Punto/Bravo etc alloys, the offset is wrong on all the newer FWD Fiats so their wheels foul the suspension of the X1/9... if you want something a bit wider and bigger than the 13"s Maserati biturbo 14" alloys are a nice upgrade, if you can find a set!

Great info, thanks guys!

Split rims looking favourite so far.

Wow... those bumpers look fantastic.. wonder if that's fairly do-able?

It's a real possibility Charles. I'll see what she looks like after the paint and wheels I think.

I was thinking of going bumperless..... got any pics of how you did it Charles?

I converted my GF to 1300 bumpers. Was quite a bit of work but I do like the look and absolutely hated the big bumpers.

You will need a set of 1300 bumper brackets if you can get them. Makes life a lot easier.

I can talk you through how I did mine if you decide to go that way.

Thanks. The blue is growing on me, especially after a few hours of Zymol! Really like the new wheels.
