Swap MR2 Mk1 for X1/9?? was created by Ian Pownall
Hello
I hope I don't offend anyone, but after much thought I would be interested to learn if anyone would be interested in a deal with my MR2 Mk1 for an X1/9?
I have not had the MR2 long but I know that I would ONLY replace it for an X1/9. It is that itch that just won't go away, since seeing X1/9s in Sheffield at a garage that used to fit Eurosport bodykits to them in the 1980s. I was looking earlier in the year for a good X1/9 but then saw my current Mr2 that was too good to pass up so got that instead.
My Mr2 is an early MK1a B reg - in fully restored condition (no rust!). It won several best MR2 in show awards at Tatton over recent years (2014 last one). The *only* defects are a sticking starter motor when the engine is cold and that the paint has some micro blistering in places (very hard to see - but you can feel it across parts of the body). It was resprayed in 2000 after the restoration work was completed. Showing 126K miles and would come with a full MOT. It remains a light and nimble car.
The interior was retrimmed and is in great condition. Recent tyres etc - it is a top notch Mr2
If there wasn't the paint imperfection, the car would command top of the range Mr2 Mk1 prices.
Any interest?
Thanks
Ian
