Original 1300cc X1/9 wanted

I reluctantly had to sell my lovely, orange 1300cc X1/9 several years ago when ongoing running problems (and an unfortunate experience with a "specialist") made it uneconomical for me to keep it whilst at university for the second time. I purchased that car from the original owner's son in Windsor in late 2000 and sold it in 2004/5, the reg was TAH 850R and I think it ended up in Scotland (and it now appears to be SORNed).

I'm looking for another X1/9 now, it must be a 1300, but I'm not concerned whether it's blue, green, orange or black. Ideally I'd like one that I can jump in and enjoy straight away (something I never quite achieved with the last one), but I realize they're thin on the ground, so I'll consider anything that's going - as long as it's in original mechanical and cosmetic condition (i.e. still has all the correct bumpers, trim, seat fabric, engine etc).

Yes, thanks, I've seen it on eBay. I've contacted the seller to see about a viewing and whether there's any room for negotiation on the price - seems a bit steep, even if it's very good. I'd expect the number plate to be included at that price!

hi Edmund thought I would mention that I am selling a red X19 but it is 1500 not 1300 it is a non runner ,but I am told it is not major and a problem with the electrics,the overall body condition is good very little rust one of the members cam to see it before christmas and wrote a bit about it,hope this is of use Sarah

Hi Edmund, have you seen the one on eBay right now. It looks perfect for you, even the same colour as your original one and looks like a nice original example. If the odometer in the picture is correct it has only done 38k too. Guy wants £3500.

Did the OP nab the orange 1300 off ebay then in the end as the car has now been withdrawn... Looked a really nice example and reasonably priced too, would have snapped it up in an instant if I didn't already have my brace of 1300's!

Sadly not, trekking half way across the country wasn't compatible with moving house the same weekend and, understandably, there was plenty of interest in the car so the seller didn't need to hang around for me to be able to make it over there.

Ah thats a shame you didn't get the car, just hope it hasn't disappeared or ended up in the hands of a speculator who will re-advertise it soon for at least twice the price!

It's the same one that was on eBay recently - the seller told me a dealer was after it, so obviously that's who he sold it to. Looks like the dealer has already sold it as it's listed as "reserved" on his website.
