1985 VS for auction! was created by Peter Amphlett
I am putting my low milage (48600) VS up for sale at the classic car auction in Perth, on the 15th May. As I have advertised it here and have had no interest other than verbal or imessage tyre kickers it seems the best way to go. I suspect the fact that I live up in the North East of Scotland has something to do with the reluctance for folk to travel a long way to see the car. Which is a shame because it is in great condition for a 40 year old Fiat. But anyway, perhaps Perth is a bit nearer for perhaps anyone interested from down South to come and view it! Three owners from new and complete history from the original sales receipt and every service, MoT certificate and all receipts for all the parts replaced by me over the past 21 years.

I have been in touch with Ian and he doesn't want the car unfortunately! So, I'm trying unsuccessfully to enter the car on the auction website! Watch this space!

Hi Peter
Has it definitely gone to auction or do you still have it available to sell?

Slightly strange. I've had a reply to the post from Peter in my email, but it doesn't appear in the thread on here for some reason?
Please find below the reply from Peter which might explain the lack of response:
Hi Danny,
Thanks for your response, and no, I haven't yet put the car into the auction. I have been waiting for the opportunity to get it out of the garage and onto the road once they have stopped salting the roads up here. I need to check it's ok after the winter layoff and also take some more pictures for the auction site.
If you are interested can you tell me what you need to know and if you are in a position to come and see it? We live in the North East of Scotland so not accessable for most folk.
I have had a few inquiries about it but no-one has been able to view it first hand which is I want to auction it.
At the moment I am on my way to a short break in Spain but can reply to any questions if you want, but won't be home until the 29th March.
Best regards,
Pete

Hi Gary, apologies for the late reply but there is something wrong with the club website I think. If I get a response to my post I'm supposed to get it in my email s, but your original post hasn't appeared but your email stating that you haven't had a response did! Anyway my response to Danny is as valid for you as for him, in that I still have the car but will hopefully be auctioning it in May. However if you are interested I can send you lots of pictures of it and of course any details you require. Unfortunately I am in Spain at the moment and won't be home until the 29th March so can't do any more until I get back. If you are interested in the car are you in a position to view it? I really think that any potential buyer has to physically see the car before making an offer. This may be a problem if you live a long way away because without a definite decision not he end of April the car will be going to auction. I have to sell this year and the next available opportunity for me is the 15th May down in Perth. If you want to reply to this post please do and I will promise to read it before the weekend.

Ok, my car is out of the garage and started with a new battery fitted. Running well and with no issues after the long winter lay-off. I am going to get it MoT'd before the end of the month. If anyone is still interested please contact me but as I have said before, I live in the North East of Scotland and so am not easily reached from the rest of the civilised world! If you want to come and see the car, please be aware that without any viewings or, more importantly test drives booked, I will be entering the car into the classic car auction in Perth for the middle of May. My land line is 01343 843988 if you want to contact me for further details. Cheers!

Well, in the end we didn't put the car to auction last Saturday. Having driven it down to Perth two weeks before the sale, we realised on the train home that it was quite a large part of our history, and that if we were to sell it, it would be better to meet the buyer. I realise that this is possibly an overeaction on our part, but we do love this car having owned it for over 20 years. On the drive to Perth it ran brilliantly, the run made much more pleasant because of the sorted gearbox. Two days after leaving it with the auction house I got the train down and drove it back home. Anyway, the point of this ramble is to say it's home now, and we may think of selling it but not at the moment. The reason for thinking of selling it is that we really don't use it as much as it deserves, and I really need the garage space! So to anyone wondering about the lack of the car on the auction website, I hope this clears it up.
