1985 VS for sale was created by Peter Amphlett
With great regret we are selling our lovely X1/9 which we have owned for the last eighteen years. The car has only 48,000 miles on the clock, and is in great condition. We are the third owners and it has a complete history, including the original sales receipt, and every service and MoT since it's registration on 28/01/1985. We have every invoice for every spare bought for the car as well.
It was resprayed back in 2005, from all over silver to it's original silver over gunmetal grey with a red pinstripe. The driver's doorskin was replaced before that respray. The painwork is in excellent condition.
Weld repairs to the sills rearwards of both doors was carried out four years ago. The passenger door was also weld repaired at the same time. The car has never been used by us in the winter so the bodywork is in sound condition for it's age.
Since owning the car, we have replaced the battery, the exhaust, the shock absorbers, all the brake calipers and discs, the water pump, the coil, the fan belt, the brake and clutch master cylinders and the fuel hoses. All the flexible brake hoses have been replaced with braided items and the automatic choke replaced with a manual one. It has four new tyres.
The car was on the front cover of the 2018 club calendar, when we drove it to Turin to the old Fiat factory and back.
There are a few minor dents in the bodywork but nothing serious.
Third gear is starting to get a bit notchy if rushed, buit as I don't have the facilities to drop the gearbox out and overhaul it, I have lived with it for the last year or so. It is certainly not serious and doesn't detract from the pleasure of driving the car. I have recenlty replaced the gearbox oil which has helped tremendously.
Given the age of the car it is in excellent condition and so I am asking £8000. As we are in the North East of Scotland if anyone is interested I can send detailed pictures of all aspects of the car.
It is MoT'd until April 2023
Please call me on 07342250660 if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Pete

Last edit: 3 years 6 months ago by Peter Amphlett. Reason: Forgot to put in the MoT details. Fixed the oil leak, the fuel pump bolts needed nipping up.

Hi I live in Forres and have a 88 blue SE which was supplied new by Dicksons of Forres. I've never seen another in the area or at any of the local shows so was surprised when I saw this one advertised and that you are in Elgin! Good luck with the sale, looks like a nice example. Get it listed on Car & Classic and I'm sure it will sell.

Hello Neil, nice to hear from you! Likewise, we have never seen your car out and about the local area. As I said in my ad, we never use the car in the winter, in fact it doesn't leave the garage until April, once we are sure all the salt on the roads is gone, and it is always put away in October before the gritting season starts. So the chances of catching us is fairly slim!
We are selling the car as I need the garage space and to be honest we haven't been using it much over the past few years so we think it would be nice if it went to someone who would use it and appreciate it, preferably a club member who would do those things.
Cheers, Pete

Hi Pete, mine was of the road last year waiting for a bit of paintwork after fitting 1300 style bumpers and only did a few miles. This year I stripped a manifold bolt in the cylinder head earlier in the year so have just got the head back after getting it ported and polished etc and currently busy refitting everything. I was meant to be taking the car to the Buckie show in August but have booked a holiday so will miss it but I’ll be at the Nairn classic car show on the 24th September with it all being well! I’ll hopefully be out a lot more with it next year! Shame that you are selling as we could have had a meet up!
