Hi All,
The time has come to say goodbye to the family X1/9 after 27 years. It was purchased in 1988 (or thereabouts) and has been owned on and off by me and my Father during that time. It started life as a Black JPS limited edition - metallic black with gold flecks and JPS insignia -absolutely stunning. It was rebuilt in 1993, because the (non?)optional extra, iron-oxide, was getting out of hand. Unfortunately, the required paint was not available, so it was resprayed, back from bare metal, in Red (Guards Red I think?) with all the appropriate Bertone/VS transfers. After 22 years it still looks like Red was the original colour - a testament to the quality of the rebuild. During the rebuild - the whole vehicle was rust proofed. The car was used as a second car, before and after the rebuild, until 2000 mostly by me (I am very lucky to have such a car at my disposal!). Much of that was my 40 mile round trip commute to work which gave it a good run. The car has been garaged and used little since then. My Father is an accomplished, amateur mechanic and until recently, has maintained the running gear and electrics of the car (with occasional hindrance from me)to a very high standard. As he is now 82, getting in and out of the vehicle is becoming a challenge and as I now have a family and hence no space, time or money to take the car on it has been decided it must go. :( . We would dearly wish to sell it to someone who will get most enjoyment out of the car hence why we are advertising here. It was given a "minor" overhaul in 2014 (by Top Performance Services, topperformanceservices.co.uk) to get it MoT'd and back on the road. This included - new clutch master cylinder and pipes; 2 new brake calipers; brake discs; all other calipers freed up and exercised; minor welding to floor in passenger foot well;service and a host of other tasks. It flew through the MoT in Feb 2014 and again in Feb 2015. It is currently MoTd, taxed, insured and running. The car is sound overall and readily useable. It is a pleasure to drive and has done 116000 on original engine. The interior is the weak point - seats are worn and the trim is a little tired but it is 33 yr old. And now the punchline... I am looking for around £2999 but am happy to take offers. If you are interested or have any questions, please drop me a private message. Keith

I am looking for a car like yours. I am trying to buy one at the moment off a club member but it is proving difficult. I am looking for no rust and reliable. I live in Cornwall.
Thankyou
