Hi Guys,
This is an update about my car which I listed here about 6 months ago. It has spent some time and money in the garage trying to get the MOT. Unfortunately, it's not quite there but not far off. Here are the details:
It is a mica blue Gran Finale with 77k miles on the clock. The car is in very good condition but hasn't been on the road for 6 years. It has however been stored in my garage for the entire time and started occasionally (which it has always done reliably). The bodywork is thus holding up very well, hopefully you'll get some idea of that from the pictures. About 10 years ago I had the car completely resprayed which included welding in new rear arches, door sills and Waxoyl.
I have also done the following to the car:
replaced the interior with a refurbished black leather one bought from X1/9 Files
refurbished alloys
K&N air filter
stainless steel sports exhaust
stiffer suspension - lowering the car slightly
stainless steel expansion tank
electric fuel pump
electronic ignition
refurbished radiator with two fans plus manual override switch
headlamp switch relay mod
To get the car back on the road I've had the following work carried out at a local classic car garage:
new clutch, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder
replaced one rear brake caliper
new front discs and pads
The car starts well and drives (very nicely). It gets to temperature just fine and doesn't overheat. Having taken it for an MOT, I know that the following work will need to be done (MOT refusal certificate available):
brake master cylinder
small amount of welding around rear suspension struts
small amount of welding on a door sill
one front brake pipe corroded
some lamps behaving erratically (probably a bad earth).
I believe that the tweeks and modernisations genuinely add value to the car. It really is in very good overall condtions and must be viewed!
Offers in the region of £1900.
Thanks for looking!
