Dallara Project was created by Julian Brown
X1/9 / Dallara Replica lightweight rolling shell - For very reluctant sale due to theft of key components

Prepared for racing with extensive multi-point rollcage triangulating suspension pickups - effectively this is a spaceframed car retaining the cabin and superstructure to create a lightweight silhouette

Very agile sportscar with excellent power to weight ratio (about 500bhp/tonne possible with the provided engine). Scale model has been wind tunnel tested to 170mph equivalent (exceeding this is not recommended due to front end lift).

Suitable for circuit, sprint and hillclimbs and can be adapted for endurance if desired.

Built to BRSCC Eurosaloons MOD regulations (class B ) and designed to take on "historic" touring cars and win.

One piece front-end on quick release dzus clips including high quality moulds for creating new panels (bonnet, nose, and both wings - all designed to be bolted or bonded together as desired)
Rear wings modified to add ducting to intercooler - on previous incarnation this was sufficent to keep charge at ambient air temperature under load, with cryogenic system (see below) it could drop charge by an additional 10 degC
Flat alloy floor
Single element rear spoiler included (sourced from a single seater) but mounting bracketry requires fabrication
Fully adjustable rose jointed front suspension
Rose jointed rear suspension
Tarox front brakes with floating disc/bell assembly
Adjustable coil-over dampers with selection of springs
Polycarb windows (except windscreen which is missing, rear panel requires modification) driver's side window has a sliding panel in it
Abarth snorkel and alternative abarth bonnet (sourced from Guy Moerenhout)
Rear one piece (abarth) engine cover/deck missing but 1300 infill panels and cover included. Spare 1500 cover also included. GRP abarth style rear cover with kickup spoiler included.
Safety cell fuel tank in alloy box with fuel pump, filter and swirl pot
2.5l Fire extinguisher (requires recharge as date has expired)
6 point harness included but requires replacing as has expired date on it - good enough for preparation and fitting process
FIA spec electrical isolator
Fusebox with resettable fuses (extra fuses included)
Tilton adjustable pedal box (clutch and brake with variable bias bar)
Two sets of wheels (13x7 front, 13x8.5 rear - one set is 3 piece split rim and may require a rebuild as seal is untested)
Some spare slicks (uses regular size tyres, part worns readily available from formula single seaters)
Gel battery with GRP case
Quick release boss for steering wheel (not fitted)
Tuned 1400 turbo engine last run at approx 200bhp but spec'd for about 230bhp on basic engine management in road trim,
with suitable management and ancilliaries will run at closer to 300bhp in race trim according to the engine builder.
(lightened, balanced internals, flowed head, built by professional race engine builder) - requires some minor alterations to fit cleanly. The original engine was stolen.
Oversize oil cooler and intercooler
Intercooler cryogenic system with large CO2 bottle
Electric water pump and thermostatic controller included but requires fitting of suitable mechanical water pump blank to engine
Stock gearbox is included but is not suitable in current spec. The original Bacci-Romano gearbox was stolen.
Exhaust system included but was built for original engine and will need alteration to fit the turbo included.

Windscreen, engine management, cable gear shift, seat, firewall panel and radiator are missing and will need sourcing or fabricating.
Advise sourcing of suitable gearbox internals (available from Colotti or Bacci-Romano in Italy).
Cooling system and wiring loom will require fabrication.

Target build weight was 600kg, minimum regulation weight was 750kg so plenty of scope for heavier drive-train and ballast for weight distribution correction

£4500 ono (engine alone is worth £7000)
ETB Digidash system with harness will be included if sufficient funds offered (worth approx £300)

An equivalent car will cost upwards of £20,000 (don't compare this with a basic production class car - there is a world of difference in the amount of work involved)

Collection only, will require trailer (something else that was stolen) and a very large boot to transport (suggest transit size van). Car is in the Manchester area. Contact me via email (jimbro1000@the-lair.demon.co.uk) to discuss or for viewing.

Will not split so please don't ask

Sorry to see you are selling up Julian :( especially after all the time sweat and money you've thrown at it over the years.... if I didn't have too many cars and not enough time on my hands I would be interested :) Surely you cant just re-source the bits that were stolen?!
Who made the rollgage by the way or was it a custom job? As looking to get a cage for my fast road 1300 project...

Hi Jim, the problem is I am all out of resources including space. At the current pace of work it would another 10 years at least before I could finish it and even when I did I can't afford to race anymore... Getting the parts isn't really the issue, it is all about tools, fabrication, etc.

One of the hard parts is that with the trailer gone it costs me about £100 every time I need to move it. I could replace the trailer but that's another £1000 (new) and I have nowhere to put the trailer even if I had it.

The race engine that was taken was irreplaceable. The cylinder head was developed by an ex-Ferrari F1 engineer and performed amazingly, sadly it was the last piece of work he did as he died a few months later. The engine was balanced to run to redline at about 12500rpm and at full boost and peak power was hitting 450bhp, a phenomenal figure for a 1.3 engine that started out in a road car. The turbo alone was a work of art. The really galling bit is that when it was all stolen it probably ended up in a scrap yard to be melted down...

The rollcage was fabricated by Rollcentre (Martin Short's crew) and built alongside his own Dallara Judd SP1 (the one he crashed a couple of weeks earlier at Spa in 2005).
