1989 X1/9 Gran Finale, Mica Blue. £1150 was created by Nick Tuftnell
The time has come to reluctantly sell my X. It is a mica blue GF with 77k miles on the clock. The car is in very good condition but hasn't been on the road for 6 years. It has however been stored in my garage for the entire time and started occasionally (which it does reliably). The bodywork is thus holding up very well, hopefully you'll get some idea of this from the pictures which I took last week. About 10 years ago I had the car completely resprayed which included welding in new rear arches, door sills and Waxoyl.
I have also done the following to the car:
Replaced the interior with a refurbished black leather one bought from X1/9 Files.
Refurshed alloys
K&N air filler
Stainless sports exhaust
Stiffer suspension, lowering the car slightly
Stainless expansion tank
Electric fuel pump
Electronic ignition
Refurbished radiator with two fans plus manual override switch
Headlamp switch relay mod
The not so good news is that sitting around for 6 years hasn't done it any favours. The clutch release bearing has seized, meaning that you can't select any gears. I suspect that the clutch needs to be removed. Also once started the car will warm up and start to overheat, so I think the thermostat needs replacing.
That does mean that the car would need to be towed away, although it wouldn't be a problem for you to spend some time fixing it on my drive.
I have really loved this car and was a club member for a good few years, maybe someone remembers seeing it at some meets. It was about six years ago I was told that I was going blind and couldn't drive any longer - it has taken this long for me to feel ready to move it to a home that will give it the use it deserves. If you'd like to chat about the car or want more (or high res)
pictures, please let me know.

Hello Nick,
Sorry to hear your X1/9 has to go but I am sure it will find a loving home amongst the members in the club. You didn't mention a location in the UK. Might help if people know roughly where it is if they are interested in the car.
Regards,
Terry.

Hi,
Yes and no!
After I got no responses I decided to get the car fixed up with an MOT and see if that generates more interest. It really shouldn't need much doing but I guess if people see a 12 month MOT, it's a bit of a safer bet! I'd love to do the work myself but personal circumstance are a bit prohibitive right now. Anyway, it's going to the garage at the end of April. Are you particularly looking for a project?
Cheers,
Nick
