1987 Red X1/9 with MOT was created by Bruce R
Not sure if it's worth advertising an X1/9 for sale on the owners club site but you never know, and I would rather it went to an enthusiast.
Well the wife's car has now claimed its place in the garage with the bike so "Albert" is now outside doing nothing and is about to be put onto Ebay. If you want to see some photos then look at 'Car of the Month' Oct 2007. As it has been garaged in a humudity-controlled garage it is still pretty much in the same condition and only ever saw water on National Meets!!
It has an MOT until Aug 2011.
All electrics (windows, headlight pods, lights etc) work as they should with no "ignition warning light" at low revs as I have a 65Amp alternator fitted.
.
All Locks work (doors, glovebox, rear bonnet/boot catch) and I have keys for all of them (both doors operaste with the same key).
Car has suffered from some rust in the past but has been waxoyled by a previous owner (after it was resprayed) so has not degraded any further (I have applied further Dynatrol to keep this going). The important structural areas (suspension top mounts, sills, engine/suspension mounts etc) are untarnished by any rust. The car has never failed an MOT during my ownership (I have loads of old MOTs and other paperwork to show what's been done on the car before I owned it as well as what I have had done).
This is not an immaculate car but is very good for the year and a long, long way from the scrap yard (the re-paint is a great finish but has been touched up in some areas since). If you want to see photos of a specific area then PM me and I'll try and take them.
The mileage shows just under 85k which, given all the historical paperwork, is genuine. The engine/gearbox are spot on and it must have been well serviced as neither show signs of high mileage (there is a receipt for work on the gearbox before I bought it). I have carried out a load of improvements including:
Re-cored Radiator (copper double-layer) - car never overheats at any time
Lumenition Electronic Ignition..
Silver-top Electric Fuel Pump with manual isolation switch, crash switch and ‘Fuel Off’ warning lamp.
New fuel lines plus in-line filters.
65 Amp Bosch Alternator with new drive belt.
2 x Refurbished alloys.
4 x new 185/60 profile tyres (look much better than the 'skinny' standard size).
New Water Pump.
Goodridge braided flexible brake hoses all round.
Gas Strut fitted to front boot.
Jamex variable-rate lowered springs all round (car sits nicer with wheels sitting more central in the wheel arches).
Alarm with microwave interior/exterior sensor.
High power battery (as used on Saab)..
Cambelt & Tensioner bearing replaced (2010).
Rear discs/pads replaced (2010).
Carb Cooling Fan removed - pointless as car always starts even when very hot.
Front Fog/Driving lights (micro size but excellent illumination).
Front Fog light switch in centre console with warning light in Instrument panel.
Second rear fog light fitted on left side to match existing fog light. Mechanical Fuel Pump removed.
Gearbox oil replaced with MT90 oil - gearbox is slick with no syncro problems.
Additional Brake light fitted under roll bar.
Manual Choke with control lever in centre console.
Steering wheel boss extension (also have original).
Coloured backlight diffusers removed from Instrument Panel.
Shortened gear lever with ‘Bertone’ leather gear knob.
Headlight Pod control relay modified ("Pod-mod") to keep Pods down when sidelight-only selected.
Relays installed in Headlight circuits to reduce load through switches.
Brown-Wire mod carried out on ignition supply.
Dim-dip system removed from headlights.
Current stereo will be removed
I also have the following spares that will go with the car as they will be no use to me without a car to use them on:
Steering wheel (late model three-spoke).
Complete late-model Black Dashboard (including glovebox & instrument binnacle).
2 x Carburettors and various jets.
Towbar.
Iridium spark plugs + NGK spark plugs.
Left & Right Headlight pods.
Left & Right headlight pod motors.
1500 bumper mounts.
Various light lenses.
Heater valve (brand new, did not get round to fitting, current valve seeps when valve is moved but heater and valve operate properly).
New Oil filter.
New Air filter.
New thermostat.
Full set of standard Struts/Springs/Shocks.
Pair of parcel shelf speakers.
2 x Haynes manuals.
Set of 4 central locking operating solenoids (to fit on lock inside door and can be operated from the alarm).
I can't see the point in leaving it doing nothing, it needs to be driven to be enjoyed, and would rather it went to an enthusiast so am starting the bidding on Ebay at £900.
The extras alone would cost quite a bit but I will not be 'breaking' the car and I am in no rush.
I am happy to consider offers for the spares (except the heater valve as the current one could do with being replaced eventually so will go with the car).
The car is no longer insured and SORN'd.
I am in Somerset (Yeovil) but work in Wiltshire (Swindon) so could transport spares to near these locations or in-between. Viewings are more than welcome but would probably need to be at the weekend as I work away during the week.
PM me if you are interested or want any more info.
This is a great car for the money I am asking (I know I am biased but I have seen some pretty ropey cars with a lot of rust and non-working items being advertised for more).

Albert is still available (Haven't got round to Ebay yet) and I have been advised by a local committee member that with the spares it's worth at least £1500, but I am happy to let it go for less.
