See www.x1-9ownersclub.org.uk/index.php?page=09_2008 for pics

Myself and Nick Troth from P1X completely rebuilt the engine - shells, rings oil pump etc. Brand new head. Massive service history, all receipts - Runs A1 - 5k miles since rebuild and sweet as a nut. No smoke at all.

Some of you will have seen it on the track at castle combe and Northumberland last year. No Structural rot - rust free turrets. Panels are in very good condition rust wise for age. Recent geometry set up at chemex. Under the red skin the car is a lime green 1300. To make A1 the dents to n/s/r panel, n/s sill and n/s/f wing needed to be taken out and the car to be resprayed back to the original lime green. A local panel beater told me he could do it all and none of the panels would need replacing as they all in good nick rust wise. I'd love to do it but I'm still finishing my turbo exxie.

Would be sold with 12 months MOT and tax till sept. I would want it to go to a club member so I could still see it around. How many 1300s can you drive away with no problems and keep as a running project? At this stage I'm only comtemplating the sale. Give me a call on 07841353997 and tempt me!

Oh and I paid £120 for a fiberglass copy to be made of the original metal 1300 front spoiler. Green deck chair seats, early 'space invader' clocks (so Jim told me last week) and a sweet gearbox too

Hi Rob, I'm interested in the shed the car is pictured in, sitting up on the trolley jack. Looks to me as if it has a clear roof, is this yours? Not wanting to buy the shed I hasten to add, just like the fact someone has used their head when constructing a building which is so much more bright by using a clear roof.

Yes its mine - Luckily my parents have a bit of land so bang went the graduate loan on a place to house the exxies! Its a 3 bay building which I got from www.blueriversteelbuildings.co.uk/ . This guy however is just an agent. All the materials come from scotland! (capital steel buildings if I remember right). Only prob is they charge a hefty amount for putting it up (which I didn't go for) and the materials delierved didn't quite meet the specification of the design! Luckily Nick Troth's dad (who is a retired builder) put it up for me and cut beams to fit!

Hey Rob, you're mad to be even thinking of selling your lovely 1300, especially after all that work you've put into doing it up...

I feel that good genuine 1300's (not 1500 conversions) will very soon rise sharply in price as examples become scarcer than ever (think how FEW 1300s there were compared to 1500s at the National?!) and now they are over 30 years old they are moving into proper serious classic territory and they will soon and rightly so start to fetch proper money more in line with other classics of a similar era eg old Triumphs, Fords, MG's etc... a classic car dealer I know agrees totally with me and keeps trying to tempt me to sell my green 1300 to him!

Just out of curiosity how much are you thinking of asking for your car? (and before anyone asks, there is NO way I am thinking of adding yet another 1300 to my collection cos if I did I'd have to go the whole hog and get a Lido to complete my grand slam of 1300 colours! :) )

Hi Jim - Your right I am mad. It was the only non-lido 1300 at castle combe and also at Northumberland. I really don't want to part with it but I realised at the National just how much I missed by black car. It didn't help looking at Richard Preece's awesome twin-cam in the rear view mirror with its front end like BAD's. I've just got to focus to get the turbo project done and if im not driving an X this summer then i'll really crack on with it. I also want to see the 1300 done and starting two projects at the same time is not a good thing.

Its a difficult one because mine has very very little rust (better than most 1500s) but a few dents that need repairing here and there. Its also crying out to be green - why did everyone paint them red!!! agh! I've got a figure in mind - I'll pm you to see what you think

Superb :D I rent a barn the noo which can hold 12 cars but want one of my own. The clear roof, does it expand across the whole of one side. I'd be interested in some photos of the interior/exterior if you have any :-)

Hi Rob

I was sadened to hear that you are considering selling your excellent 1300. However you have your reasons and you are wishing to complete your current exey project. I totally agree with Jims comments regarding prices being on the up. At last. When I was in my early twenties in 86 I bought and restored yes it was rough a 1300 green special series myself and painted it red over black....why oh why I didnt stick with the original green I dont know and agree with you that your 1300 deserves a repaint in the right colour. Im afraid like Jim im not contemplating increasing my exey collection and hope you can secure a sale to a club member who will invest in the car. I too would very much like to see more non lido cars at our next national event. A good special series for me would certainly atract much atension and rightly deserved.

Best Regards :D

Thanks Les - it breaks my heart selling it but I would rather see it gathering a crowd at a national meet showing off its new green paintwork than to be sat in my garage with years passing till I could even make a start on it.

Ewen - I'll take some pics of the garage and email them over soon
