Nice photos - I sat up for ages outside and watched the whole thing until the moon went red - girlfiend wasn't too impressed though as I left the back door open :shock: Quite interesting just sitting there wrapped up warm listening to people going about their business but not realising what's happening directly above their heads!

Must have been the mother of all lenses you used there Gomer. Was that attached to your digital camera you took to Automoto last year?

The moon must've been MUCH closer to Wales than it was to England - it was just a small blob when we watched it ! Amazing photo's Gomer.

We spend a while setting up to take a few shots of the eclipse. Unfortunately, due to it being Manchester and all, the cloud cover just got way too bad....but way before anything started to happen I grabbed this one.....if only to prove the cloud cover and to go back indoors with atleast something to show for it! :roll:

p.s yes the picture was flipped!...the moon is the wrong way around...just thought the clouds looked a bit better this way! LOL

Ewen - yup the Panasonic FZ7.
By dropping the res down to 3megapixel you get what they call 'extended zoom' - basically a limited digital zoom!
They claim 16.5x optical - which in old money is 594mm.
The moon was still small at full frame so I just cropped to 800pixels wide and got these.
They look ok on the web but don't really bear close scrutiny!!

"Gromit" there's a name ......

Shaun Stiger Lewis ex tech guy was know as "Shaun the sheep" sent us miles to have a look at a stuning X1/9 well it was yellow the prospective buyer stayed in the car it was that bad Husband and Frosty had to look at the car only good points were we could not think of any. :x
