All them roundabouts must be a draw for all those Exxys...... plenty of opportunities to test out those drifting skills.... :)

I can attest to that Jim! I lived there for 3 years in the 80's and drove an Alfasud. My favorite trick was getting the distance behind someone such that I could take the roundabout without slowing and slingshot past them on the exit! The odd thing about that Afla was that it ate pads at the front but only one of them on one side. As a mate said at the time, 'But it's not as if you ever use the brakes...'

Alfasud... cool car! 8) there seem to be quite a few people who have owned/do own a 'Sud as well as an Exxy, its one of the cars that I would love to have grace my garage one day especially an early small rear light cluster model in kermit green with a 1.7 engine transplant.....

I have to agree with you there Jim. :)
I own two 1.5 Gold cloverleaf models.
The best handling 70's/80's fwd cars ever built.
Smooth free revving boxer engines
Nice induction noises from the twin IDF Webber carbs.
Lovely exhaust crackle ,especially on the overrun..... enough said.
Not many left especially the series one models which were very badly rust proofed.
If you think a x1/9 can suffer badly from rust then a Sud will open your eyes.
There is a few mint series one cars out there, the 2 door Ti being the most sought after.
Its successor the, 33 was a bit bland compared to the Sud.
Parts availability can be a problem with only one specialist, Justsuds,
that carry good stock. Unfortunately they are not to keen about dealing with overseas customers.

Hey - mine was a Gold Cloverleaf! I bought it 3 years old from a dealer. Within a year the front wings had almost fallen off with the rust. The dealer was so embarrased that he GAVE me 2 new wings. Mind you I had to pay to have them sprayed and fitted so it wasn't that much of a bargain. When I sold it at 6 years old it was disappearing fast to the red worm. One of the best driving cars I ever had though.
I replaced it with a red GTV6... The trouble with that car was in order to have fun you had to be doing illegal speeds.
Ron.
