Seems all the cars are moving north. Maybe it's the clean air, the twisty uncluttered roads or maybe just most of the anoraks are up here

Yes Ewen - it is a very nice one. I was tempted myself when Tiff was saying how good this particular exxy was. What are your plans for it ? Have you decided which alloys are worthy enough for it ?

Well, a couple of days owning a 1300, have been contacted by a previous owner, the car has had lots of attention but you know, driving TAHR home tonight all I could think about was what it must have been like when these little cars were let loose on the worlds public. The car is magical and transports you way back to the seventies. I just explain the feeling. It doesn't have the deep down power of the 15 but it is pure. You can see what the American impact bumpers did to the car. I paid a fair price and wondered if this wee thing was worth it but you know, I'd pay lots more for the experience of owning one now. This car is a direct link to the magical era of Italian sports cars and I love it for that reason. I phoned Alternative Autos today and they don't have any spares but I don't care, the love affair has begun and I'm completely hooked. If you can find one, buy it and enjoy it. A different animal than the 1500 but wow does it make you smile.

Congrates Ewen, getting your hands on a 1300 8) in that condition is possibly the easiest way to make alot of members very jealous! It's 20 years ago that i had my 1300, but i can still remember the ball of the gear knob & the distinctive throw of the lever! ENJOY!
:D

Hi everyone, mmmmmmmmmmm, plans for the wee car. I would like to restore the car bit by bit but I am concerned about restoring it to a condition that I'm afraid to use it. Sounds daft but I understand what it must be like owing a car like FAG.

One question to 1300 owners out there, the drive height at the front of the car appears to be quite a bit higher than the rear. Is this normal on a 1300? I know the rear shocks were supposed to be shorter than a 1500 but the 1300 is like a boat making the steering ever so light.

Richard, I won't be bringing the 1300 this weekend as I feel there will be some thrashing of engines but I hope to bring it along on the Sunday at Callander.

Andy, you have a lovely 1500 so enjoy it and make sure you look after him. I love the Fiat cars, always thought they were better built. I'll try to restore the 1300 but have to begin collecting bits first. Could do with a respray and the windscreen needs to come out but let me enjoy the summer sun first :D

Ewen

Ewan. It looks great. I fancied an Orange one to go with Peapod.

They are like a boat but I dont know about the front being higher than the back. :? They roll quite a bit round corners but they still seem to grip and once you get into the upper rev range, they pull like a train for a 1300. It sounds a bit manic but it can handle it. We have had Peapod at full tilt many a time and it seems better for it.

Great car. I am still trying to sell my (slowly deteriorating) 1500 to maybe get another 1300. A blue one I think.............. :D

Wow, looks like a new friend for POB!!

Superb, I dont know about the front height iether.. however the steering lightness i find is directly related to how much pressure is in the front tyres!!..

Looks fab... enjoy.

Where do you guys keep finding these pristine 1300s? There can't be many left at all, but to keep seeing them in such good nick gives me hope that one day, one of my elderly customers shows me to his garage & unveils an immaculate Series Speciale or Lido, & that i can mend his double glazing in return for his 20,000 mile piece of history!!!

It's all about knowing the right people, that's one of the benefits of the club. Nicer keeping these cars in the club than having them vanish forever.
