If I had a spare few quid I'd buy them, steam clean them and then stick them back on ebay. (Won a pair of DCNF 40's with manifold recently anyway)

As it happens I'm skint so here they are:-

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ? ... 4566605986

Must be worth a bid.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay?

I bought a pair of 40DCNFs and a manifold a couple of years ago, and realistically, I'm never going to get them fitted.

Your new 220bhp Ink Black purchase eaten away your hot twin carb fund Simon?? ;) (saw your post on FCCUK - still look on there now and then even though I sold mine 2 years ago!)

I just can't justify the expense of getting them fitted and keeping them in tune. I have enough troubles with one carb!

Saw your name mentioned on there in the last few days (someone saying that they had bought their first car from you a while back).

Pick it up next weekend. Getting a bit excited

Including delivery, I paid approx £140. They came with the linkages apart from a mechanism to join the two cold start systems.

I still had to buy the filters and an electronic fuel pump however it's still running on the mechanical pump whilst I get them synchronised.

For what it's worth, I've been using twin 40DCNFs for five years at least and I'm still using the standard mechanical fuel pump. I'm not convinced of the need to change. For one thing, as I understand it, it's easy to flood DCNFs by using too high a fuel pressure.

Im running an electric pump with my twin 40's - thats why I have a fuel pressure regulator fitted! :) Agreed they bog down badly with too much fuel, you have to be very gentle and progressive with your accelerator travel....

I'm pleased someone out there is running the mechanical pump without problems as I'm having no issues with the mechanical pump what so ever and was trying to work out why I needed to change!

I too get the bogging if I get a bit enthusiastic on the throttle at low revs however in general I have found the engine is just soooooo smooth with these carbs.....and the noise!!!!! I'm so pleased I didn't go the Uno Turbo route. This is how an Italian sports car should sound and it's no slouch either.

Just a thought - when using the mechanical pump are you running the return line to the tank or is that blocked off now (I have mine blocked off).

Yes, it's blocked off.

My engine was originally built by Avanti. They advised me that an electric fuel pump was only necessary if I wanted to go circuit racing. I was certainly willing to buy one, but they turned down the opportunity for an extra £100 (not something they do very often...), which I found to be a pretty convincing argument that an electric pump is not strictly necessary :-) And, ummm, what's the point of fitting one if you then have to tame its output with a regulator?
