Hello,

New forum member here - not yet a club member (or X1/9 owner) but hoping to become both of the above at some point! Just signed up in case anyone might be interested in these photos that I took of a few X1/9s at Silverstone Classic this year.

And also, of course, to say thank you to Rob and his partner (whose name I never actually caught, I do apologise) who very kindly chatted to me about X1/9s for a while at the festival and made me more convinced than ever that I want one of my own. :cheer: Thank you both very much indeed!

Without further ado, here are the pics:

Thanks Rob, and Juliet! I'm not sure when I'll be able to start looking seriously, but I'll certainly be back for advice when I do. :)

Although thinking about it, is there any particular time of year that's best for finding X1/9s for sale? I know a lot of sports cars either vary in price with the seasons, or just tend to be more available at certain times of year - is this true for Exxies? Just wondered!

Cheers,
Kit

Peter, cheers! Looks like there's a lot of interest in that one already, so I think I'll let it go as I haven't got the cash on hand to make an offer right now; but I've joined the Facebook group so I can keep an eye on what else comes up. :) Thanks for the tip!

Cheers,
Kit

My advice would be to simply get the a car with the best bodywork possible. The mechanics can always be easily sorted out. Early 1500s drive the nicest, gran finales are in plentiful supply and 1300s are become rare as anything (prices are rising as a result.) In my experience, the early VS models seem to rust the most but there is always some variation. When you are ready and see one you like, post it up on here and see if someone here will check it out for you. I am based in Herefordshire/Worcestershire, so if one appears nearby, I'll gladly take a look and give you an honest opinion.

Yes, agree with the above. I have found that around the 85 or 86 mark to be fairly solid, but I would say to take extra vigilance with the gran finales because I have had three of them and they were all very easily rust prone and water ingress around the windscreen for some reason. And if you ever see a 1300 going for a good price don't hesitate just buy it. As rob said the mechanics are not a problem because they are such straight forward strong engines with plenty of parts supply.

Rob, Cameron - thanks! :) I'm taking notes on all of this. Must admit I do love the VS's if only for those two-tone paintjobs, but I'm not ruling anything out yet...

Cheers,
Kit
