Got a call from my Dad who saw an X1/9 on the M & M programme where they look at buying second hand / classic cars (The one with Penny Malory in it) Apparently they commented that it was a nice car apart from rust and being underpowered.....
Dont know if it was the same programme as this was on during the day when car mad OAPs like my dad are watching....
I guess as its M&M it will be repeated soon

Yea, sounds like he saw the same prog. They made only 2 comments that wasnt favourable. The fat bloke said "doesnt the front end look like the mk 1 MR2?" & the skinny blonde said she thought the interior was horrible!
As you say, it`ll be endlessly repeated so worth watching out for.

Not may motoring reporters seem to have a good word for the Exxy these days, unlike in the old days (1970s) of CAR magazine when the wonderfull L.J.K. Setright would right reems and reems just about how sweet the steering on an Exy is ! Let alone how good the rest of the driving experience is.

I wasn't set up to record it either, sorry Frosty. I thought Penny's comment that the X was slow, was interesting against her comment earlier on one of the modern 'sporting' 1.8 4 doors that the Honda's 0-60 in 11 seconds was acceptable. Of course Jason should have mentioned that there are quite a few tuned and re-engined examples if performance was desired, but then again he kept refering to the X being "rear engined", okay it nearly is! As for "it doesn't look like a Ferrari from any angle", not a Modena I agree, but is a bit like a 308GT4/308GTS merge as far as looks are concerned. On the plus side, Jason's comments on price and what to look out for were accurate, did somebody mention rust and cooling? Also he was having difficulty in getting across to Penny that the car was a 25yo<sic> design. I wonder how journalists would have looked back on the X if production had halted in 1978 with the end of the 1300? Rose-tinted glasses methinks. At least the X got a showing on (digital) TV and about 5 minutes too.

I saw it, I saw it,
All most fainted, as well with as screaming to the wife I saw one on telly and what was her comment " oh thats nice " they just don't get it do they? first time I have ever seen one on telly the dude was saying most excellent things about the old girls. However the chick wasn't that impressed.
