M40 southbound just after J5

Sarah-Jane rang me from the motorway saying that she had pulled over on the way home from work to 'help' a stranded 1500 on the hard shoulder. You don't see one ever and there is an orange one in dire straits. He had ran out of petrol. Accurate fuel guage.........not!

So I jumped in my 1500, got a can full of petrol and drove the 20 odd miles to deliver the precious liquid to the exxy. So, picture the scene. An orange 1500 (A reg), blue laguna and a red 1500 in the dark on the M40 and its cold.

It started fine when filled although the tickover was way too slow but it did the job and off they went. They had been to Bedford to see an Alfa on ebay and were returning to London when the unfortunate event occured.

He was a member but let it lapse 3 years ago. I think we will have a returned exxy member soon. So, Marco, if you are reading this ( I know you don't do computers but you might) hello and get yourself joined !

Thats my good deed this year done and dusted. I felt a warm glow inside

That was a real nice gesture....but you should have taken membership forms with you....asked for his card and then made him join a bit like the RAC and then got him going again...........

On a side note will bring the GF wheels to the AGM if you still want then?

I keep meaning to contact you but things have been pretty hectic around here for the last 6 odd weeks.

I was in a bit of a fluster that evening as I was packing for an overnight conference and I was leaving at 5am to get there. It was a little inconvenient as I didn't get back home till after 8:45pm. Still, he was appreciative.

I am still in contact with him as he and his wife want to take us out for a drink. I will thrust it upon him then !
