sorry thought it was known by now as its been on so many times

mythbusters (in case you dont know) set out to bust myths (obvious really )

in this case they were investigating the myth that two artics hit each other head on, crushing a "compact" car between them and the force of the collision fused the wrecks together to such an extent that the wreckage was towed away as one unit.

the idea was to tow two artics on a pulley system into each other with a combined closing speed of 80mph with the x1/9 in the middle

the first time one of the pulleys failed and one wagon went off cross country, the other hit the x1/9 from behind at 40 mph and thepassanger compartment looked pretty good after.

the second time the wagon from behind hit first and then the x1/9 was slightly to one side as the front one hit. the passenger side (lhd car) was crushed to the extent that the front and rear wheels were almost touching but you might have survived in the drivers seat which i thought wasn't bad, especially since the rear crumple zone had already taken the first impact :D
