External to Club Discounts

Dear All

How do you all get on with a bit of a discount by making sure you mention our famous club?

I personally don't think I've been doing so well. Insurance through Firebond for 6k/PA for a standard car is nearly 300 quid as a second vehicle.
Tonight I've renewed my European RAC cover. Last year was 108 GBP for 12 months. This year it's 197GBP because 'the club' allegedly isn't recognised. That said they confirmed that the run a club scheme which would have brought it under a 100 if I'd chosen the right one, which of course they couldn't advise me of!

Please excuse me for being cheesed off but at 34 with no points/convictions etc and a desire to watch a silly little race through the night in a french town; I'm forking out 500 notes just in insurances.

Anyone doing better?
Anyone got ideas how we can become a recognised club on all the lists in all the land with at least a half price offer?



197 quid ehhh! Reckon I can buy a whole spare car and tow it all the way behind for less........and still thrash past the Porsches! :twisted:

Join the Fiat Motor Club of GB, they are recognised and although I get little else from them, I get the load for the car's age waived because I am a member... The only get Euro cover for the trip not the whole year... that way it costs a lot less. If you mention that you belong to the Fiat X1-9.... they usually hear Fiat and let it go too.
