X 1/9 in South Africa was created by ross
Hi All,
Just recently joined the club, so I thought I`d introduce myself and post a few pics of my pride and joy!!! I stay in Cape Town, South Africa, and X 1/9`s are something of a rarity in this part of the world! In a city with a population of around 3milion people, there are probably not more than about 10 - 15 X 1/9`s around!!! Which is considerable shame on two counts...firstly as you can imagine, parts are a bit of a nightmare, and secondly we have an aboundance of fantastic mountain passes which are perfect "Ics" teritory!!!
Anyway I bought my Ics last october... was a bit of an impulse buy. I just noticed her standing on a garage forecourt down the road from me, and it was love at first sight. A 1983 1500. I must confess that I knew very little about these vehicles when I bought it, but the club website, and especially brousing through the past issues of the magazine has been invaluable! The club is a fantastic resource.....Great Job!!
Other than a service and replacement of the bake lines, and re-building the carb, I havn`t done much to her yet. On the list of things to do is:
1. New struts and maybe a set of sport springs (having great difficultly sourcing these here, so may need to import them!)
2. Replace the alternator (Have the 45A magnelli marrelli fitted...enough said!!!)
3. K&N filter is on order, so will take her for a dyno tune once thats fitted.
4. Look into options for a bit more power (longer term goal!!)
Ooops...cant seem to figure out how to upload the pics?? Perhaps someone can enlighten me?
Cheers
Ross

Welcome to the club
if you advertise what you want for your car in the wanted column then your wants are open to the whole world.which includes no members !
and it is free !
Not saying that every one in the club is reliable or those outside are criminals. Try E-mail the companies that advertise in the recent magazine
and ask for the goods to be posted/mailed to you,one SA member who instructed a company in Sussex to action this request .However, they ignored his request and the member was inflicted with a rather large forwarding fee.

Thanks Frosty and Chris!
Actually realized what I had done wrong on the images, but was on my way out so didn`t have time to rectify the boo boo!! Thanks for sorting it for me!!
How many SA members of the club are there? Would be good to make contact with them.
Regards
Ross

Hey Ross,
Rob (XKell on here) is the membership secretary - he should have up-to-date figures for all overseas members. You can send him a PM through this forum or email him at membership@x1-9ownersclub.....
Cheers,
Chris
