car owners of X1/9 turning up voting even though they are not members)
If members of the committee have a problem with not turning up at the AGM then one can only hope that a writen report is given/sent to the club
secetary to read out at the meeting,
I pray that all member of the committee are at the AGM but on the day who can tell what will happen.

I know the problem with the postbox fire has been compounded by the membership secy being out of the country, but something should be done to at get some sort of clarification for those like me (and there seems to be quite a few of us). I have emailed the membership secy, but so far no response.
Having a efficient membership policy is vitial. It will prevent a few people just giving up on the Club, and also if it is efficient it can be stricter which will encourage renewals as otherwise they may loose access to the forum etc..
Maybe there would be some benefit in having a semi-automatic system - e.g. online payment via PayPal (5% charge, but if that prevents the loss of one member in every 20 then it is worth it) and you could then have have a forum password issued for each member that expires shortly after the membership expires. Of course its extra work (that somebody has to do) to set up in addition to doing things the old-fashioned way, but if say 20% of the members use then maybe it would make the job of the membership secy easier in the long run. It would also allow people like me not to have the worry / uncertainty of whether they are in or out of the Club, and give the impression of a well run organisation.
Just some thoughts really as I am sure this will get resolved .... eventually.

However, mine seems to have gone missing - so I will be resending the cheque/form. Maybe my first form went to the previous membership secy as I used my renewal form but a few months had lapsed as I was without X1/9 for a couple of months. I suppose the previous membership secy should pass things on though - could always just have got lost in the post.

You're right about the £25, it is just a couple of beers & a curry! When you've covered a few more miles in your X you'll be glad of your local meets & tech advice on the forum. My advice is to stick with it for another year & benefit from the rejuvenation of the club!
Cheers,
Nige

I got the computer and the database and have dabbled and then blitzed the renewals, the new members, banked the cheques and sent out a batch of reminders for those of who will be doing so to renew your membership. These will be dropping on your mats in the next few days. The local postie will have been off work these last couple of days with the weight of his sack having done him a mischief... it nearly ruptured me carrying it all down to the post on Monday.
I assure you that as far as membership goes, I will process the paperwork on a regular basis... at least once per week and if you care to call me (number in the mag) with your problems (Club ones anyway) I will endeavour to answer them promptly.
Anyone who is wondering what has happened to their cheques, replies to queries etc... if you haven't heard by Friday of this week (1.12.06) please call or e-mail me again to remind me.
Many thanks for your patience,
Rob (making positive waves)
