Dash fitting for an old Panasonic radio wanted

I have an old (but perfect) Panasonic H07 MkII radio cassette that was originally fitted in my Mums Mk2 Golf. It is of the old 'security' type where the whole unit was removed to 'stop' theft. This was done one night and some thieving scum pinched the Sleeve/collar/cage/chassis/cradle (what is the correct term for these things?) from the car

The replacement was a different brand, therefore the connections did not match so it became redundant.

Can anyone suggest where I could get a replacement sleeve...?

I appreciate that it is around 15 years old, but I really do not want to buy another when I have what is almost a 'brand new' unit sat idle in my back bedroom.

Cheers

You'd have to be be incredibly lucky to find one I'd have thought.

There are a few web sites who specialise in old car radios (particularly for the VW scene), you might try a few of those, but a spare cage would be one hell of a find.

Almost certainly going to be cheaper to buy a 'new' old radio. A 15 year old in-car radio cassette... fiver?

Cheers Simon
I will have a look for said sites.
I want to put it in my 'new' X1/9 to fill the hole I currently have. Thankfully the previous radio was unplugged when it was removed so the wiring is unbutchered :) It was/is cracking player and was only months old before the cage theft and would more than do for my requirements.

Tech term is a cage... :)
These Panasonics were standard fit to MK2 Golf GTI's and most top line VW's at the time, they still turn up at the scrappys from time to time.I'll keep my eyes peeled!

They were an option on all VW's if I remember, before they went to Blaupunkt. You had to upgrade from a MW/LW radio to a cassete player!!

Hey man - long shot - I've got maybe three Panasonic H05's - is there any chance I could buy your H07? The ISO cages interchange so no worries and that looks sweet, Cheer, Graham, Norwich

Hi Graham
I believe I still have the unit, never did get a cage for it!
I will try and dig it out.
Cheers
