Yes it is italian - and true to italian tradition it rode fine for FOUR miles - then lost power!!!
Still the exxy just needs a bit of wiring and the interior to do now - hooray - the end is nigh!!!!)

I had an interesting journey home, I kept stalling it to start with when trying to pull away in 1st, the clutch biting point is SO different from the 4 stroke Suzuki GN 125 I learnt in which didn't need much revs but this Aprilia you really have to be vicious with the revs in comparision and let out the clutch slowly or it wheelies!
Finally got the hang of it and have been taking advantage of the nice weather yesterday and today and have been riding it all over the place! Just done well over 100 miles and still have a big smile on my face!
only problem is my wrists and hands are aching like mad, its hurting even to type out this post....Only downside is that I'm amazed by the stupidity of pedestrians and cars alike when it comes to motorcycles...
Ah, heres hoping next weekend is as bright as this one!
ps Geoff - hope you got your scooter sorted!

Perhaps I could arrange an X1/9 O.C. (bike division)LSE pub meet and we could admire Alex`s vespa! Anyway turns out the carb on my Piaggio is shot. The body of the carb is disentegrating with the flow of petrol and depositing aluminium dust into the mixture - probably as a result of it standing - albeit in a lock-up - for along time before I bought it. Currently have a new Dellorto on order, which should sort it. I`m told (by my local bike racing mechanic) use of Redex together with a friction reducer such as slick 50, ZX1, or wynns gold etc in a 2 stroke is well worth it, and prevents such horrors - so have purchased said products
ready to bung in as soon as I fit new carb. Just a thought but what do others think?

A breakaway LSE X1/9 bikers splinter group sounds a good idea!
