TVS RO

Just been thinking about the lack of chances for TVS members to get together this summer. How many members has this region got, and, (Stuart, you might know the answer to this), were the regional get togethers well attended? Also the $64000 question, why does no-one want to take over from Stuart as TVS RO?
It seems that there are only a small number of TVS members who use this forum, so does that reflect a certain apathy down south?

Even if we did a few informal pub meets it would at least keep the ball rolling!

Observations, opinions, comments gratefully received!

.............had a couple of TVS display entrants at Bromley a couple of weeks ago (which equalled LSE entrants) - so there is still some sort of life
south of Watford! - All the rest were the HCN posse! (which was pretty dead before PCM became RO and stirred `em all up! )
Shows what can be done!
..............you`ve let yourself in for it now, Nige! ..................(I recall similar pressure on pcm to volunteer when he posted about his local inactivity!)

Don't really have a clue about what's involved & if i can give the job the time & effort it deserves. I am self employed with a young family to consider, time is at a premium now, so i don't want to do the job half cock as they say!

Frosty, i was really waiting for some sort of response from some of the TVS members on here! No-one has even given me a quick run down of what the job involves etc. Seems TVS members aren't too interested in having a RO, i thought, (perhaps naively,) that i'd get a bit more encouragement to take the job on!

NIGE DON`T GET TO DOWN IN THE MOUTH, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I TOOK ON THE HCN RO`S JOB, ALL I DID WAS KEEP AT THEM IN THE END THAY GAVE IN AND CAME TO THE EVENTS, IF YOU NEED ANY HELP THEN YOU KNOW WHERE I AM JUST RING ME OR EMAIL ME I WILL HELP AS MUCH AS I CAN I ALSO KNOW FROSTY WILL CHIP IN.

I'm on the TVS region although I do kinda border the HCN region too.

A hardcore 3 of us ( pairs that is) used to go on a few pub meets, Uxbridge and Auto Italia meets, but one has moved to Germany. Other than that it was spontaneous turn up at the pub or a drive around the country.

Stuart still appears on here every so often so I am sure he will fill you in some more.................

Yes I do appear on here still from time to time !

As Warren says the turnout was never fantastic, but I never actually was sitting in a pub by myself ! Generally we had 2 - 8 members turn out for pub meets etc. although the turn out for the shows, Brooklands in the Spring and Autumn and Uxbridge was generally good with 7+ cars turning out. Funilly enough the last event I did at Brooklands in Autumn last year had the best turn out of all the events I did over the two years of my time as TVS ro with 12+ cars, including the green 1300 thats appears on the front of phil wards book ! !

The ROs job is to promote the club by organising events for the members to attend (dont bother asking what they want cos they dont tell you) be it simple pub meets or shows that the club can attend in the TVS region.

If anyone wants help with thier first meet / show, I am happy to help !

Thanks guys, i'll give it some thought! There are some nice pubs down this way! If anyone fancies a drive down to Goodwood on Sun Aug 7th it's German sports car day at the breakfast club. I know we can't show our cars, but often the car park is as interesting as the show area! Maybe a pint after? I'll be there anyway drooling over the 911s!
