COME ON YOU GUYS !!!

Went to the 'Retro and Classics' show yesterday (sunday 2nd July) at Santa Pod, and was suprised to find out I was the only X1/9 there! Not only that, But only a couple of people actually knew what my car was!
Come on you guys with quick X1/9's, these cars are a superb platform for modifications and dont cost the earth to run. On my first EVER run I posted a 14 second @ 95mph pass in 85 degrees F running a 1.3 uno turbo engine without the Nitrous fitted. With the gas we can reduce that by at least a second.
So come on, Lets make next years Retro show the one ' The X1/9's came to town.' (and wiped the smirk off the ford,vaux boys faces!)
Hope to go to Auto Italia show on 12th july if I can escape the dreaded kiddies birthday party.

Yours was not the only X1/9 there! You were obviously too busy thrashing up the strip to look in the retro car park. I said I was coming and I did.

And what a trial it was: that ball joint is really on its last legs, it kept refusing to go into 5th or reverse, I got lost on the way there and the way back, and when I stopped to look at the map it heat seized and wouldn't start again until it had cooled down a bit.

Sill, I really enjoyed the day. I thought drag racing might be a bit boring, but oh no. Some very spectacular machinery and some laughable too. All in all a really entertaining show. There's camping on-site so, next year I think I'll try to drum up a bit of enthusiasm for a get-together.

14 seconds at 95mph. Hmmm, must be 150hp at the wheels..175 at the fly.. enough for 140mph...respect to that!!!

Sorry Dino - couldn't make that gig - I had a skip full of rubble blocking my driveway - my fault / bad planning! Maybe next year I'll come along and we can rig uop a couple of my video bullet cameras in your car - would make a great DVD! :shock:
